Night Ladies, off to play with the soda crystals

lucysmam · 30/08/2008 18:33

Well I've had a produtive ish day googling growing onions and garlic, wanted to do some other stuff but they were about the simplest I could find to start with. Trouble is, I don't drive and no-one wants to drive me to garden centre so I've now got to google mail order type sellers of that kinda thing!

Grouchy, where would you get a small greenhouse? nothing spectacular & something cheap. I assume it'd be possible to order them online too, think I'll google that too!

I have also decided we're always online shopping! It was sooooo easy & we got some good replacements for the stuff they didn't have in. There were 2 bags of spuds in my bags though & I'm sure I only ordered one & I have a tin of chilli beans that I must have clicked on accidentally because they're not something I'd usually buy. But they're on my receipt so definately mine.

rowingboat nappies got here this afternoon at some daft hour . . . postie delivered everything up the street, then came back with parcel instead of just knocking when he posted mail! will let you know how I get on, can't wait to try them

Luda it looks fairly simple from what I've managed to find, I'm just going to have trouble getting to get stuff. But am giving it a go

Right, lo to bed, me in shower and then pots & a beer in front of idiot box with oh after that. tata xx

lucysmam · 30/08/2008 18:36

Grouchy have just re-read thread, where would one invest in a hedgehog?? because I can't imagine we'd get any in concrete jungle where we are

Bewilderbeast · 30/08/2008 21:44

grouchy can I borrow the hedgehog? Lets say one weekend in 3? The slugs have decimated my plants and veggies this year

TheMadHouse · 31/08/2008 07:02

Morning all

What to do with a 3 year old, who decides at 6am if he is awke the whole house has to be, including his little brother - argggggggggggg

They are currently playing, I am shattered.

I have been soaking the peas overnight to make musheys - yum Need to go and pull up the last of the spuds and pick some green beans for lunch.

Sun is burning off the sea mist at the moment and the forcast is OK till lunch time, so I may get them dressed and take them for an early walk somewhere, although then again I might just stay in my pjs and watch cbeebies with them decisions decisions

ludaloo · 31/08/2008 08:54

Morning

TMH I like the thought of going to pick my own lunch....this time next year I hope to be
Hope you manage to catch up on a bit of sleep....or rest at least.

GO I'll keep my eyes peeled for a hedgehog....I live in a very rural village, so you'd think they would be around somewhere. Judging by the amount of slugs in my garden there isn't one near me!
(I expect they don't need to wander very far though, there seems to be an abundance of the slimy little critters)
They manage to get in the guinea pig hutch, which annoys the hell out of me....I get up to feed them in the morning and you can see they have been sharing their carrots with the slugs all night. The slugs even eat the piggles dried food!

Flies have been awful this year too. It must have something to do with the weather. (I'm guessing)

Well I have been putting it off all week but can put it off no longer...Food shopping for some reason I absolutely loathe it.
DH said he will come with me though, which TBH isn't always a good plan but at least I don't have to do all the bag packing myself.

Kids are all watching Madagascar, I'm just doing brekkie then it is bath time for everyone! (very I don't think DD1 has had a bath in the last 10 days!!! the other 2 had one the other night but DD1 refused to have one so I thought it would be easier to let her go without....not having school or anywhere particular to go)

ludaloo · 31/08/2008 08:57

Oh and lucys, Argos do nice cheap small greenhouses here

TheMadHouse · 31/08/2008 09:52

Well I need to take a trip to halford - the boys need new bike helmets (trike helmets really). Their heads must have grown, as I can no longer get them on . More money we dont have spent, but needs must.

Luda I love growing my own stuff, wish we had a hughe plot TBH and once the boys are both at school (or maybe next sept, when DS2 starts Preschool), maybe then I will look for an alotment. I have visions of the good life TBH - lots of fresh air and veg. I am lucky as my two love veg, but then they know no different.

We have had loads of flys too.

FLy wise I have dont nothing I will pop a wash on later and maybe iron

lucysmam · 31/08/2008 10:15

morning everyone!

lmao Mad that's what my lo is like! If she's up, the world is!

We always have loads of slugs usually, except they've disappeared over the past few weeks!

luda lol@ your dd not having a bath in 10 days, mine's like that. but only because we always forget to put hot water on for long enough before we plan to give her a bath! Thanks for greenhouse link, will have a look now

I have nothing planned for this morning! At all!! except to put stew on for tea soon.

Have left this sat without posting for ages so bet everyone's said hello before me so to everyone else just in case!

lucysmam · 31/08/2008 10:17

luda greenhouse is a bargain n only small. Wonder if I could talk oh into it or he may think it's just a 'phase' I'm going through

I will bribe him with the last beer tonight I think

ludaloo · 31/08/2008 11:04

Mad I like the goodlife type of life too....just have no clue to achieve it really and my big downer is that none of us are big veggie fans but I'm hoping this will help with that. I am sure we will be more inclined to eat what we have grown ourselves....especially the kids.

Lucys lol.....my dh thinks just the same....bribe him with the last beer and an early night If he is anything like my Oh, that is sure to get you what you want

lucysmam · 31/08/2008 11:57

lmao luda yeah, that would do the trick. . . that would get me anything I wanted pretty much!

Just out of interest, if you're not veggie fans why grow veggies? Then again, I suppose if you do it yourself it may convince the lo's to try it because they could 'help' out in the garden. Although my lo's idea of helping in mil's garden involves eating the mud/plants

I have just put stew in very low to cook and lo is tucked up asleep, which is very strange these days. Wonder if she's coming down with something maybe. I'm having a play on the www. and a cuppa then going to put out washing and turn our mattress I think while she's snoring. & maybe tidy up my dump living room which is a little bit of a mess with toys everywhere!

BiancaCastafiore · 31/08/2008 14:30

Hello

Grr, was going to type more but need to sort a dispute btwn siblings...back in a mo....

BiancaCastafiore · 31/08/2008 15:40

Gah!

My children hate each other today and we are trapped in waiting for visitors who seem to be running late.

I have cleaned and tidied downstairs and made a LDC this morning (kids both had friends to play) but ever since the friends left they have been squabbling and deliberatly winding each other up.

And it's raining

BiancaCastafiore · 31/08/2008 15:40

And dh is out at work

BiancaCastafiore · 31/08/2008 15:43

And now they have both been sent to their rooms to calm down (best for them and for me!) after ds threw a toy at dd after she snatched his lightsabre!
What is wrong with the pair of them today???!

Jas · 31/08/2008 15:58

Not much longer til they go back to school, Bianca

I'm back from hols, and just checking in so I can find you next week, really.

I've unpacked and done most of the washing, and labelled all the dds new school uniform.

DD2 has lost one of her new school shoes, so will be wearing old ones I think.

We has a lovely time away, but irt was 12 hours in the car each way, so I wouldn't do it again. Too long with three dc in the car. I had to sit in the back most of the way home to prevent fights with various combinations of children.

True Jas They go back on Weds, and I will miss them when they're not around

Glad you had a good holiday, the journey sounds like a bit of a nightmare though!

The kids are playing snakes and ladders on the bbc schools website (handy for anyone playing against dd as it is not possible for her to cheat!) They seem to be having fun together

We are still waiting for our visitors..they were due an hour ago....

grouchyoscar · 31/08/2008 17:09

HELLO ALL

Sorry to be so late today. I've been busy. I was out at 8.45 picking blackberries on the bridleway. I got 4lbs! There are loads more red ones ready to ripen next week too. The freezer is full. I'm giving them to the neighbours. I'll be setting up a jam factory at this rate!

I've been sorting out the plants today. The Carrots and spring onions are a write off as are the peas but we have some beans and we've had lots of lettuce. The minibeasts in the compost bin are dining well.

Hope you're all well, good to see you all.
Ed is humming Clash records

So the holidays are at an end. I'm reverting back to the bedtime routine. Butties made etc etc. Aaah, life returns to (my type of) normal. Ed is so ready to go back to be honest

BWB There is a hedgehog rescue place in Earlsheaton. They are often looking for new homes for hoggies that can't be returned to the wild. eg, ones that have had arguements with strimmers and have 3 legs. If you have a garden where they won't get out on the road you could adopt a disadvantaged hoggie.

Ed has got his guitar out to strum along with The Killers, he aims high.

Right, Tidy the front room, bye for now

grouchyoscar · 31/08/2008 17:19

Lucy's The mini greenhouses are plastic with a waterproof cover. You can get them from Woolies or argos. The 2 teir one came from Argos for £15. The 4 teir was £20 from woolworths.

Ed has now got his drum kit out to join in with 'somebody told me' Bless!

My crop failures are down to next doors kids. Think I can get anything to control them?

EustaciaVye · 31/08/2008 17:20

Rainy day + end of summer holidays = grumpy all round.

lucysmam · 31/08/2008 17:29

hello all!

I'm feeling fab today, don't know why tbh, have been bored out of my brain most of the day since oh was out til 3 and lo abandoned our teddy bears picnic for snoozing & slept til oh got in! Stew was yummy n plenty left for oh to nibble later so no random missing bits I need for something for later in the week . . . again . I feel like I should do something but don't know what n can't be bothered!

grouchy ed has very good taste in music obviously! I love The Killers!! fab!

I am bribing oh later on with last beer and early night later for a greenhouse

I love it when kids go back to school, not meaning to sound awful, but can walk lo round town for a bit without the constant fear that a gang of 20 teenagers who couldn't care less who they walk into are going to knock her over or walk straight into buggy

I'm not very confident steering her as it is, when town's packed I'm even worse!

Right, off to wash tea pots, bring in washing which is very soggy now and then ebay some more snowsuits. Seem to have hundreds of the things around n we only ever used one of them last winter! Have never seen most of the others before

EustaciaVye · 31/08/2008 17:36

I even had to get the glue & glitter out today.
