gas bill-units and kilowatt hours

Please can anyone tell me how mnay kilowatt hours in a unit. I'm being charged for about 300 kwhrs for 10 units. Does this sound about right?

I think that you should be charged for Kilowatt hours.

I think that the "calorific value" of gas varies from time to time (i.e. how much energy is in it - how many kilowatts are in it), so the companys convert units to kWhrs based on the calorific value of their gas over the period billed.

I know it is bloody complicated.

If it helps on my March bill 59 units equated to 1859kWh..which is about the same as you (10units is about 300kWh). That is with npower

Thanks, nearly 20 quid seemed like an awful lot of money for very few units
