Cleaning big cast-iron radiators?

Any tips?

We have old-fashioned huge cast-iron radiators all over the house but they are getting v. dusty, especially in the kitchen where DH recently put on a new back door creating inches of dust & plaster.

I have bought some swiffer things that look a bit like feather dusters but some of the dirt needs water to get it off I think.

Wondering whether there is any easy way to do this or do I have to get the toothbrush out and do it bit by bit?

Thanks

pan scrubber type spongey thing for pot washing maybe with some washing up water (not for washing up though iyswim)?? or one of those cheap dish brushes. Only have small radiators myself so usually just wipe down with a cloth. will hoover not get to any of the dust?

Thanks. Have hoovered out what I can but the slots are quite small and the dust has collected on little ledges sideways - impossible to get at with the hoover.

Pan scrubber sounds infinitely better than toothbrush - should get all angles like that.

Do you mean a long handled bottle brush?

yeah something like that, they're dead cheap in wilko's or netto or anywhere else like that, should be able to reach between the slots with one of those i think
