It was only a handful, so will putting a wash cycle on without dishes clear the system?

if you haven't done it already then i would have thought so, or a couple of washes

While you're here, what and where and howoftendoes one need to put salt in it and why?

girlandboy · 27/07/2008 15:28

Afraid I only put salt in when the dishwasher was brand spanking new and I was all excited about having one. 2 years down the line and I've not bought a bag of salt for it since!

Wouldn't imagine putting soda crystals in will do any damage. Just give it a couple of empty runs.

Amount of salt and how often depends on how hard/soft your water is moondog. It effectively softens hard water and stops your dishwasher caking up.

Thanks all.
We live in a hard water area so didn't want to risk not putting salt in.
We have a BOSCH and this red light comes on every time we need to refill salt and rinse aid.
