Inviting my mother round!
Since I invited her about half an hour ago I have done as much cleaning as I would normally do in half a day.
Better go, toilets to clean.

PS I rent her out at £50 a visit, cheques payable to S. PolarBear

I think it has to be your own mother, stealth.

If MIL is coming round, I make a point of making the place look a tip. I know she hates it, you see?

StealthPolarBear · 26/07/2008 16:27

are you sure?

actually yes, when mil comes round i tidy, but no more than for anyone edlse. and a lot less than for Mama "white glove" polarbear

Yes, I agree. It does have to be your own mother, though. My sister and I call this doing a Mummy clean, applicable in other situations, eg Oh God, DDs teacher coming round, better do a mummy clean.

Similar thing here.

Our house has been blitzed top to bottom this morning (well havn't done bedrooms we will just keep doors shut).

The reason is 2-fold.

  1. DCs are all at grandmas so I can do it in a fraction of the time
  2. we have guests coming this evening who have grown up children so their house is immaculate.

I still have the bathroom to do - but that shouldn't be too ownerous.

I'm afraid the only thing that works for me is a visit from MIL. I don't worry about what my mum thinks at all, and never have!
