afternoon all, everyone had a good un soooo far??? I now have an almost clear of baby stuff bedroom, an almost tidy kitchen (been experimenting again so made a lil bit of mess), a tidy bathroom and a banana covered baby! its all in her hair and all over her tummy for some reason, think she might want bathing tonight somehow.

rowingboat glad i brighten someones day
ruby take advantage of the chill time, if you have offered and they've said no then its up to them. But, it might be nice to offer to babysit so they could go out if their kids dont want to come over to yours

rowingboat · 24/07/2008 14:39

Ruby could you suggest taking them to a park or somewhere equivalent in excitement levels to their garden, but free and child-friendly.
If she doesn't want children in her garden she is going to have to remove all toys and put in herbaceous borders and gravel.

Lucysmam good luck getting banana out of clothing!

thank-you rowingboat sure they'll still be a mess once washed, it gets absolutely EVERYWHERE but she loves them and one can occupy her for a good half hour or more.

I think taking them to cinema with DH sounds like a fun idea ruby, just be sure you're not going to end up sepnding a fortune!! But if they would rather play in their own garden n u wouldn't be comfy taking them to the park then its a good idea as its a bit more controlled (right word???)

well, out of my things to do today . . . big bedroom looks a bit more normal, rest of toys playing on top of our wardrobe until i get toy hammock thingy up tomorrow. um, shiny sink?? not a chance of that, oh has beed making smoothies and his mam's been round so my once minute pile of pots is now HUGE!! big bed, not done! bet it'll pee it down tomoroow but couldnt be bothered so took lo for a wander to shop instead then chased her all round it with a 'booooo', or ball to us grown up types which was v. funny!

um, nothing else done today really apart from lots of playing! spag bol for tea i think, can have mine in total, utter peace while oh at footy training then a luvly bubbly bath

lucysmam · 24/07/2008 16:06

sepnding??? omg what's happened to my spelling!!! I meant spending!

grouchyoscar · 24/07/2008 16:07

Hello again and Welcome to any new Newbies

DH has risen an needs to 'do something' I have a feeling he is not sufferring from flu but is simply run down and mentally exhausted poor guy. I'm treating him carefully.

Done

Put away things in kitchen from yesterday
Clean sink
Start breakfast
Empty DW
Put away
Serve breakfast
Tidy away
Sort through the 'dry' washing (some not dry
Load TD to finish off
Unload TD, sort and take for putting away
Make DH a birthday cake (Chocolate cake from Domestic Godess, chocolate glaze from Prue Leith)
Make batch of crazy cookies
Tidy away and clean surfaces (Slowly as I was listening to Mark Kermode on Radio 4)
Lopad DW and run
Check on DH
Keep an eye on Ed outside
Empty DW
Put away
Tidy Ed's duplo/lego spillages

Ed asked for the stabilisers to be taken off his bike! DH did the Dad bit (very important) with my tools (hey at least I was involved in dispatches) and Ed rode without help! Ed can ride a bike I'm as pleased as punch.

Afternoon all

DH is being a star - he is managing with four boys this afternoon, whilst I have been asleep.

I am a little hot, not sure if it is the weather or me

DS1 is really under the weather, I may take him with me to the doctors tomorrow. He is calpolled up again and I am doing dinner.

They have had their hair trimmed and I have had my catapiller brows waxed.

RupertTheBear · 24/07/2008 16:29

Afternoon

So far have done...

15 minutes downstairs done
15 minutes upstairs done
Yesterday's and today's mission done
Ironing mountain half done - friend arrived just as I was about to start the bits I hate and leave until last. Shame I will have to leave them until tomorrow. DS is at an age where I can't iron when he is up and I don't do housework after 7pm!
Wash downstairs floors not done

Hope everyone else is well

EustaciaVye · 24/07/2008 16:36

Oh God. DD1 took DD2's buggy for a 'walk' while we were in supermareket. I checked the surrounding 4 aisles and couldnt see her anywhere. Cue frantic search outside of shop and back again. She turned up within a couple of minutes but I was terrified.

I have explained how I was worried about her as I couldnt see her and she could have hurt herself without me knowing, or a stranger could have tried to talk to her an upset her. She realises she was naughty but I dont know how to make it sink in. She is only 4 and has never done that before. I have already told her I will be telling DH when he gets home which she's not happy about.

scattyspice · 24/07/2008 16:45

Hi again all.

Well done Grouchy's DS my DS is nowhere near riding without stabilisers.

EV's DD My DD is getting more adventurous too. Tis a worry.

lucy toy hammock sounds like a good idea. We are drowning in toys lol.

Today I have cleaned the oven !!
Also have bought 3 plastic baskets for the sole purpose of decluttering and then put to good use in our bedroom (cleared out loads of stuff).

BBL

lucysmam · 24/07/2008 19:02

cleaned the oven scatty???? u sound very shocked that you did it!!!!! lol

know what you mean about drowning in toys, we've been taken over by them completely here, managed to get hammock thingy attached to wall all by myself only for it to fall down again so lo's room is once again covered in b's as she calls them.

my kitchen looks llike a beach after oh had an hour in garden so off to sweep that while tea cooks for when he gets in from footy. not sure about mopping though, sweaty muddy feet n clean floors don't mix! oh well, he'll have to do it afetr he's been in the bath tub!

hope everyone's had a brill day in the sun!!

see you tomorrow with a proper 'to do' list of things i absolutely positively have to do before my house explodes xx

lucysmam · 24/07/2008 19:03

oh, my to do wasn't quite as meaningful as i'd meant it to be!! lol@me, ttfn xx

scattyspice · 24/07/2008 19:07

lucy the oven was last cleaned when DD was born (she was 3 in March) and that was by MIL!

However i wished I hadn't bothered as DH has complained about the smell of Mr Muscle since he got home .

lucysmam · 24/07/2008 19:14

wow!! i thought i was bad, mine's done every 6months or so cos its 1 thing i abosloutely positively hate doing! although i dont think i dislike doing it as much as you do somehow

scattyspice · 24/07/2008 19:20

Yes Lucy I do feel bad.
I am going to force them to eat salad allsummer so that we don't get it dirty again .

dylsmum1998 · 24/07/2008 20:34

ds has been complaiing all day about a sore throat and headache hope it goes quickly

rowingboat · 24/07/2008 21:41

Hi everyone,
Scatty yes, make them eat salad - out of the bag - save on washing up as well.
Or even out of the ground if you have a garden, save money!
Lucysmam I bought an Ikea hanging thing for toys and never used it, it looks like a hanging fruit basket. At least you tried. What are b's?
Ruby you could do that Kids AM thing at Vue it's free for kids and you pay £1.50 for adults.
Are any of the children over ten in the group? I sometimes take my LO plus two others and a 12 year old to the park and the 12 year old is fantastic at helping amoose them and keeps and eye on the smallest two.

Has anyone set a bedtime for themselves and stuck to it?
I don't like that babystep. [frowny face]

I'm still just about managing the hotspots and the daily declutter, but only 15 minutes.
Can't seem to do a 5 minute room rescue, only 10 minutes seems enough for my stinky kitchen.
Kitchen I think is the worst part of the house for mess.
Dylsmum what are the nurseries like, is it a close call?

biglips · 24/07/2008 21:50
