Do I need to do anythinng about this?

From what I can see they are nesting in the extraction system in the bathroom - they have got in through the outside vent and I keep finding dead ones on my bathroom floor.

i have just stood outside and watched 3 or 4 flying in and out of the extraction vent.

do i need to call in the council

i am thinking of taping up the vent that leads inot the bathroom so at least they can't come in that way

any idea???

Yes call the council. We had one in our loft which was luckily empty by the time the builders came to convert it!(the loft, not the wasps nest)

Look in the yellow pages. Find a local pest control man. He'll come and poison them. You'll only have the bodies to sweep up (and stay out of the way while they're in their death throes. It puts them in a really bad mood.

Should cost somewhere around £45.

We had one in out loft last year. They were getting into the house and next doors too. We phoned the council and they sent someone round. They sprayed the next and they haven't been back since.
Good luck

Call the council and they will send someone round. Might cost you about £50 though.

If you wait until autumn/winter, the wasps will die off and the nest will be easier to remove. Although be careful.

The only thing is that the wasps tend to return to the same area next year, not to the same nest but some where near to it.

I'd get pest control to spray the area while they are active.
