Stoneware plate - which UK retailer?

Hi,

I'd like to replace a grey dinner plate.

Do any mumsnet users know which retailer may've sold plates with that image shown below on the reverse?

Thank you in advance.

Wild stab in the dark - Tesco or Sainsburys?

LIZS · 14/10/2026 20:41

How recent? Most retailers include their name or the name of the range in the backstamp so probably a more general product.

BrokenItAgain · 14/10/2026 22:17

Thank you for your replies. The plates owner shops at Sainsburys so I'll have a look there.

LIZS that plate dates from at least January 2025.

I went to Sainsburys yesterday. They didn't have one the same.

Have you got a picture of the actual plate, that would help. Stoneware is just a name for a type of pottery, rather than a brand name, so isn't going to help much.

unlikelychump · 16/10/2026 21:28

It looks m and s -y to me

IzzyLeng · 16/10/2026 21:39

I think habitat which is sold at Sainsbury’s.

IzzyLeng · 16/10/2026 21:41

Ah just checked. My habitat plates actually say habitat on the bottom.

IzzyLeng · 16/10/2026 21:42

Dunelm has a lot of stoneware.

LoafofSellotape · 17/10/2026 00:49

Take a photo of the actual plate and search the image?

Shedmistress · 17/10/2026 00:58

All food grade pottery needs to be stoneware as that's the type of clay that is vitrified for food use, it basically means it was fired at around 1200°c. So all retailers will possibly have that on the bottom of their plates.

TinyBlueDent · 17/10/2026 01:10

The font reminds me of John Lewis.

Shops usually have different styles each year so I'd be surprised if you could still buy a matching plate.

smileyplant · 17/10/2026 01:14

Yes I'd agree with the above, the front looks like John Lewis own brand - if you have a picture of the front that might help narrow down :)

BrokenItAgain · 17/10/2026 18:57

Thank you for the replies. I've learnt what Stoneware is.

Respondents stating styles regularly change probably have a point.

I went to Dunelm today. A shelf stacker suggested I bring the plate in with me. Seems 12 piece, plate, side plate and bowl of something similar is £20.

All of theirs seem to have Dunelm on the bottom.

It's 378mm in diameter and 30mm deep.

It's a lighter grey than the current Dunelm graphite shade of their Stoneware.

If its light grey, is it this one from IKEA?

But if you've broken a plate belonging to a friend or family member, why not just tell them?

They might not be bothered about replacements, I wouldn't be, I just buy some more when they're running low, it's an excuse to choose something new.

But are you sure about the measurement, 378 mm is enormous for a plate even by modern standards.

FÄRGKLAR plate, matt light grey, 26 cm - IKEA UK

FÄRGKLAR plate, matt light grey, 26 cm Your perfect start for many types of meals. FÄRGKLAR plate comes in a straightforward design, a great base to match with other dinnerware. Choose a matt glazed rustic surface or a glossy modern one.

Thank you Bjorkdidit!

You're correct, it's about 278mm NOT 378mm as I wrongly put.

I'll have a look at Ikea's plates.

My IKEA ones have their name on the back.

BrokenItAgain · 17/10/2026 19:32

Thanks HoldMyTeacup.

To me that looks like the typeface Morrisons would use.

Sainsbury’s have HOME on, unless it’s a Habitat range. Ikea products have the Ikea logo and I believe John Lewis and Dunelm do too.

It looks like a cheap range and I can’t think of anywhere else that might sell cheap dinner sets. Maybe B&M? I don’t know much about them.

Most big retailers will have backstamps like
