I already hear the Lakeland one with abrush comes highly recommended but I don't have ti to get to lakeland before I want it.

Mr. Muscle Oven Cleaner, rubber gloves and Brillo pads.

LuckyStrike · 30/06/2008 22:31

only way to clean an oven imo

SlightlyMadSweet · 30/06/2008 22:32

LOL.

I would be too embaressed at the state of my oven ...maybe after I have got through half the thickness of grease with whatever is on the shelves of Tesco.

There is no substitute for Elbow Grease. But money can buy someone else's.

ChirpyGirl · 30/06/2008 22:47

Ooh, how much is that LS?

Bewilderbeast · 30/06/2008 22:48

Oven Mate

SlightlyMadSweet · 01/07/2008 17:22

Well Tesco's failed to deliver Oven Pride.....they have delivered Cif oven cream instead....it is in a plastic squirty pottle which doesn't fill me with confidence....

oven mate from lakeland or betterware/kleeneze type catalogue. fab fab fab stuff as far as cleaning ovens go . Tis lke magic, just paint on thick gel, leave for about 4 hours and literally wipe off with kitchen roll or cloth. Result = brand spanking new looky likey oven, no smell, no mess, no nothing. honest, tis magic!!!

giraffescantdance · 01/07/2008 18:12

sounds good furball

i usually hate the smell, i feel like i am about to die

ChirpyGirl · 01/07/2008 19:39

When do you need it clean by SMS? Lakeland are pretty good at delivery, if you try calling them and explaining pitifully they might be able to get it to you in a few days...

Lapsedrunner · 01/07/2008 19:40

The one from Lakeland is unbeatable

Yes, I agree, Oven Mate from Lakeland. I did mine this week - very sparkly now.

SlightlyMadSweet · 01/07/2008 21:14

It is more that I have decided to do it so I want to do it this week on my day off Thurs.

Will try CIF (have just sprayed a tester on the door). Will order the oven mate next time I see the Kleeneze/Bettaware book or am near Lakeland.

Well teh CIF hasn't touched teh glass patch I tested. The small bit where it pooled as it ran down the door is pretty shiney though.

I think I need to wait to get to Lakeland...

Oven Mate is the one you need. You'll choke to death on Mr Muscle, Oven Pride is great for racks but not effective on the sides of the oven (I take my side racks out before cleaning)and the Cif is just rubbish. Believe me, I've tried them all.
