DD has one of those soft ones like this I wipe it out every day but it's getting revolting on the outside and wiping that does nothing. It really is gross now

They do get really filthy. I wipe them inside and out and have semi-washed them (ie., not immersed in water) with washing-up liquid and the pan scrubby thing but, if it's really filthy, just buy her a new one for September

I have one like this and I pop it in a pillow case and throw it in the washing machine once a week!

Fimbo · 30/06/2008 21:43

You can't, you need to buy a new one. I stopped buying them for my dd and she now uses a box as I was going through lunch bags every 2-3 months.

they're pants aren;t they? whatever's wrong with old-fashioned lunch boxes. I wipe mine with soapy water and periodically plunge them and scrub them. but no way are they as clean as a tupperware that's been throuhg the dish washer

I chuck my ds's lunch bag in the washing machine with everything else. Comes out lovely.

foofi · 30/06/2008 21:47

Washing machine.

OrmIrian · 30/06/2008 21:49

I gave up on them for that very reason. They never seemed entirely clean in the end. And when the lining splits which it does sooner or later it gets even more disgusting.

geekgirl · 30/06/2008 21:53

yes, I wash dd1's in the washing machine together with the ordinary laundry. Still looks like new. It a pink one with a picture of a kitten - maybe it helps that one side is shiny rather than fabricy?

Thanks! I'm going to try the washing machine when she gets home tonight but if that doesn't work it's definitely a new (hard plastic) box in September!
