..and I've been using my washing machine. I know it has a hot and cold water feed and I tested the drum once it had been on for a while and it seemed warm.

Should I turn the temp up on the washing to compensate for the lack of hot water?

Will it still get things clean? Sorry to be so thick. It never occurred to me to worry about the washing machine until other people had mentioned it.

No, don't, it will heat the incoming cold water until it's the right temp. Will take longer on cold fill only but will get there (and the washing will get more turns round so prob end up cleaner )

Why have you had no hot water for 4 weeks?

(Do leave the water on for the hot water feed though, it will confuse the machine if none comes in)

They've been out 3 times so far and ordered 2 parts which haven't done the job.

They are sending a senior servicing engineer to have a look on Wednesday.

I don't dare hope anymore.

I'm fed up of washing my hair in the sink and having cold washes.

Thank goodness it's hot weather.

Who are 'they'? British Gas or some other outfit? We've got BG annual service/insurance and they've been very good (although it's prob down to the individual engineer)

It's horrible having no hot water - even just washing your hands is miserable. Hope they sort it for you soon.

NPower under a Home Emergency service.

This is the 4th time it's broken down since we moved here in September.

Did you sort out your account with your son?

NPower don't impress much all round, do they?

Um - no - I have to and admit we never got it sorted before he went back out for the summer (last weekend, back early Sep)

However we then have 3 months before he goes back out for another winter season in early Dec, and we had a letter from N'wide last week with account details and everything (which I just couldn't find before). And his sister has a dormant current account too. So between us I hope think we can get it sorted for the winter. Fingers crossed
