Vacuum cleaner recommendation

Out Miele has just packed in. Any recommendations for what our next vacuum cleaner should/should not be? Not too fussed about cordless, plug in, etc.

I have a shark cordless and I love it. It copes moving from rug/ carpet to hard floors really well. Easy to manoeuvre especially to get under beds and other furniture. We had a dog and it coped well with hoovering up dog hair.
I also have a Ninja hand held which is great for picking up odd crumbs on floor or table but the absolute game changer is using it on the stairs, no more trying to hold onto a heavy unwieldy hoover whilst moving up or down the stairs. At the moment the vacuum I’ve got- pet pro is on special offer.

Miele again?

HettyMeg · 21/09/2026 12:10

I'd go for Miele again. We got ours in 2019 and still going strong!

Fast800goingforit · 21/09/2026 12:13

We have a Sebo X4 Pet and it copes with every kind of flooring and picks up brilliantly I think they are now up to X7 or X8.

Kamek · 21/09/2026 12:15

I'd recommend Sebo too, and I had a miele before it and didn't like that as much

Autumnlife · 21/09/2026 21:50

Sebo Felix pet version it replaced the rubbish Shark hoover that everyone raved about on here when I purchased it prior to that I had a Miele cat and dog that served me well.

growinguptobreakingdown · 22/09/2026 08:03

Strong recommendation for Sebo here too.
Steer well clear of Dyson, stay corded and use bags is my advice.
I liked my Henry but it had nowhere near the suction of my Sebo, was large to store and got stuck on corners. My Dyson was awful.

I've just inherited my mum's Gtech Air ram vacuum, I haven't used my Shark since, it is so light & leaves those lovely lines in the carpet after use. I'm just going to keep the Shark for hoovering the sofas & in corners the Air Ram won't go, it even goes right under my bed. I've just had all new carpets which are still at that stage where they need frequent hoovering to remove all the new fluff.
