Musty wardrobe

Slightly embarrassed that my wardrobe smells a bit musty or “used clothes” smell.

Its very crowded with clothes and if I’m honest, some clothes I will re-wear like jeans or hoodies that I’ve only worn for a short period of time .

Should I empty it and re wash everything while the weather is fine?

how can I keep it smelling fresh?

Pop some French lavender soap in muslin bags hung up.

Is the wardrobe on an outside wall if it is I’d look behind it to make sure it’s not damp causing the musty smell. Definitely empty the wardrobe have a declutter of clothing that you’ve not worn in a while. I wouldn’t put worn clothing back inside either.

Could it be damp? I always have those hanging dehumidifier sachets in my wardrobe because one end of it touches an external wall and whoever installed it didn't factor in any ventilation.
Ideally have a sort out and get rid of anything you don't wear to increase space for air circulation, give the wardrobe a good clean and rewash anything that smells really musty and put the clothes back in with a dehumidifier sachet or two.

Put some scent boosters in a cloth bag & hang from the rail or tumble dryer sheets in coat pockets.
