Allergies in home. Going crazy!

I live in a rented Victorian property. For the last six months all occupants bar 2 (4 of us) have developed intense itching 24/7.
Have been taking antihistimines/steroids but it's making no difference.
If anyone has any advice what could be causing this in the house I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Could it be house dust mites? That’s a fairly common allergen.

Try a different laundry detergent
Or shower products

Do you have a rash? Could be a reaction to bed bugs or fleas. Some people react and others don't.

Given the insane summer we've had, could possibly be environment related - grass allergy, swimming related, hot tub etc

If there is no evidence of bed bugs, I would eliminate all perfumed cleaning products and air-fresheners. They can cause havoc.

I have tried changing laundry detergent and we all use different shower products so I don't think it's any of those. I don't have any scented candles or anything like that. One of my sons who visits regularly has also started itching as well. It's so frustrating!

Have you changed your detergent and fabric conditioner to one with no fragrance like Ecover zero? If you are reacting to it then just changing to another one might not be sufficient. Or perhaps the last people had cats.

Same. Am taking antihistamines too, to no avail. No sign of bedbugs.
Have put mine down to menopause but that won't work for all of your household!
Have you had rodents? Rat mites? You'd have a rash with that though, usually.

I know the house is old but do you have a bunch of fairly new furniture or rugs? Check out off-gassing.

We'd been here 11 months before the itching started. Everything the house came with us then. Nothing new recently.

mold
cockroaches
dust mites (as mentioned above)
could also be something from the garden - a type of tree or grass.

it might be worth getting a pest inspector in if they investigate this sort of thing

perhaps it’s something seasonal in that case? just a thought

i lived with coackroaches in an airbnb once and got loads of these sort of symptoms, it was horrible.

Mould seems a likely suspect? Especially if you've ruled out detergents

What laundry detergent ate you using and what soap? It's very likely to be that.

I bought some 10 hour itch cream which is helping with the itching, but no further to finding out the cause.

Would you be able to recognise scabies if you had it? It's sneaky. And contagious.

DC1 brought home scabies from Uni last year. Apparently it’s rife. And yes, it’s very, very itchy!

I've seen the pharmacist today who said it is scabies.
For those that have dealt with it, what's the best way to get rid of. We have the cream. Thanks

Hoover everything, absolutely everything. Then hoover it again. All bedding washed at 60 and I’d use clean towels every time.

Its a real pain and it took us a bit to get on top of it as I’m not sure DC1 wasn’t getting reinfected at Uni.

Scabies,can be passed through the whole family

I have spoken to the gp about treatment for everyone in the household now thanks
