How can I get a tomato stain out of a cotton top? Only worn once!! 😭

I’ve just put it in a 40° wash and gave it a stain remover pre-wash spray, added stain remover powder to the load, used Persil Bio outstation removal and then put it on a Bubble wash cycle where stains bubble out.

clearly all marketing lies.

The sun! Sunlight makes tomato stains disappear.

Sunshine is the answer. Hang it in the garden or put on a sunny windowsill and the stain will disappear.

Can’t use bleach as the top is a creamy colour.

Okay have hung it off a garden chair to get the last of the sun! Fingers crossed.

What everyone else said. Sunlight. And try ace bleach for colours (it’s a green bottle)

Fairy liquid (or other brands) is really good at lifting tomato stains. But I’ve only done it before washing. I’m not sure if it would work after washing.

It might be worth trying though if nothing else works. Put lots onto the stain and rub the fabric together gently.

Wash it and hang it in direct sunlight, it might take a while but direct sunlight works wonders on tomato based stains

Yes, sunlight. My sister told me when my small DS did exactly the same. It's like a bona fide miracle.

I'm currently crossing my fingers it works the same magic on the annoying antiperspirant marks on my white top which is currently drying in the sun. Not holding out hope...

Look up Nancy Birtwhistle, she has answers to most of these questions. Yes to bright sunshine for tomato, but I don't think it would fix antiperspirant marks.

Rub washing up liquid or a laundry soap bar or gel stain remover into the stain and wash using bio powder. Sunlight is good at fading stains too

Dishwasing liquid and a brisk scrub with a brush, Shout spray, or as others have suggested, sunlight.

There are those “magic pens you see advertised on Facebook no idea if they are any good though maybe they are tallow and ash.

Next time soak in cold water for an hour then scrub with green hairy liquid and a nail brush. Then wash on 30

White vinegar and put it in the sun

Just to add to the above that you don’t even need bright sunlight to remove tomato stains. It takes a bit longer, but hanging out in the winter still achieves the same effect.

Hanging outside also removes breastfed baby poo stains from cloth nappies and vests etc.

I am always amazed how quick people are to suggest chemicals and scrubbing when hanging outside does so much. So it’s heartening to see that most people didn’t on this thread!
