Washer dryer recommendations

Hello everyone, looking for washer dryer recommendations.

My Samsung washing machine broke this week so looking at getting a combined unit this time (haven’t got room for a separate dryer)

Would like one where a full load wash doesn’t take hours…most of the ones I’ve looked at take 3 hours plus which seems ridiculous as my current 8kg cycle takes 1 hour ish!

Feel like I’m going down a rabbit hole looking at all the options….help!!

Combined ones are awful to live with. I'd spend more on a washing machine, with a really great spin cycle and so on. Get one of those airer things that pull down front the ceiling if you can.

I had a Candy one thirty years ago which went on for 18 years and was still functioning when I inherited a newer machine.

However, I'd never have a washer-dryer again. The capacity of the dryer was half that of the washer, so it just wasn't practical as a 'fire and forget' solution. And the performance of the dryer was poor.

Hi, did you end up going for a washer dryer? I'm having the same dilemma as you but not been reading good things about them but I don't have room for separate dryer unless I go for a smaller counter top one.

Yes I ended up buying an LG one, very happy with it. It does a AI load which takes just over an hour to wash, then the dry stage takes about 1.5 hours. This is for I would say about 5/6kg. I haven’t needed the extra weight capacity for the wash cycle yet, but should be useful for blankets etc as officially will go up to 10kg. The clothes come about a bit creased but I just give them a steam after if needed. I wouldn’t let the negativity put you off, I’ve found it a game changer not having damp clothes on the airer :)

Hi, would you mind posting the model number of the LG or a pic of the leaflet cover, thanks. Yours sounds very good timings wise, as I was reading that the cycle of wash/dry can take forever on some models!

Also, would you know if you can wash and dry separately? I mean wash and line dry, and then finish off in the dryer part if the clothes are still not dry (in Winter say), or is there any point in that, just wash and dry anyway!

Glad you’ve got one that worked I’ve found they are all tiny and take 3 days. Mugg ch better a full sized washing machine then a dehumidifier and airer in a room.

Not the OP but we have a different washer dryer (an older one, so model number long irrelevant) and of course you can do as you suggest. You can set the machines to just wash, just dry, or one followed by the other. So you’d be able to put slightly damp things in there to finish off.

I do an normal wash then once finished select the dry mode which you can pause and open the door to check if the clothes are dry

I've gone ahead and bought one and I love it , did my first wash and dry tonight and the towels we're dry enough to put straight away however does yours get very hot to the touch? It was so hot that I could barely touch the door but I've never had a dryer so don't know if that is normal?
