What do people use to wash these to get them white again?

I put vanish in mine and put them on a hot wash and they came out lovely.

MotherofPufflings · 16/08/2026 15:57

I soak in hot water and soda crystals, then a long intensive wash with biological detergent for whites and vanish oxi action.

Vanish power in the was and sunshine.
🌞 has a bleaching effect

I never have an issue with yellowing pillow slips. However, I don’t have a tumble dryer so everything is line dried outside.
My white slips are a lovely colour (white) so try drying in the sun. The bonus is, they smell lovely too.

Dr Beckmann Glowhite generally works, although if I have time, I soak for an hour in Persil Bio powder with some Vanish powder in too.

I also change them every other day, since DH lost his hair…

My dh has a sweaty head as do my ds and dgs.
Dh doesn’t get to use my white pillowcases anymore.
I line dry whenever possible.

@ it’s actually the pillow protectors not the pillowcases. The pillowcases I line dry in the sun.

i should have been clearer that it’s not the pillowcases. I wash them weekly. It’s the pillow protectors that are yellow.

For whites I usually soak in soda crystals, hot wash with bio powder & line dry preferably in lots of sun!

Now I change & wash my pillow case protectors & mattress protector every time I change & wash my bedding.
It was during menopausal night sweats that I realised that not only was I soaking through the sheets/pillow cases but the protectors were getting unpleasantly damp.
Even though I’m on HRT, I still get a bit sweaty so still do the mega bed linen & protector change…

Sodium percarbonate.

WonderfulSmith · 17/08/2026 08:23

Napisan to get white things white.

Should we market a nightcap for men/boys with sweaty heads? This summer in particular has been a nightmare for it.
