guest option - not airbed

in the past we had those high air beds.
they were great but after about 5 times of setting them up they lost a lot of air and became unusable.
plus they are quite cold in winter.

currently we have those mattess blocks. but guest complain that they are too hard/close to the floor.
we looked at higher ones but they take a lot of space when not in use.

in short, we need 2 singles that pack away small and are comfortable.

should I look at camping stuff?

Wayfair had some foldable camping beds, but they look comfy. Not too flimsy

We never found anything better than those big airbeds and just accepted that they had limited lives. A duvet underneath the sheet helps against the cold. Even Murphy beds tend to be very uncomfortable and creaky, as well as taking up a lot of room.

Guest could always book a hotel!

Where are they to be used and how often? What age of user?

Some sofa beds are excellent now. You could buy a new sofa.

some single or double beds also come with a slide out extra bed.

i like sleeping on a large outdoor beanbag.

A garden hammock?

We had the jay-be fold up beds for years, with a duvet as a mattress topper, they were comfortable

We have a trundle bed - one slides under the other so only single size when not in use. Can be used as 2 singles or 1 large double.

Not what you asked for but we store an extra mattress under the mattress on a dc bed. With a fitted sheet you can't tell there are two mattresses stacked and we just pull the bottom one out whenever its needed for guests.
Any scope of doing something similar?

We have a couple of single size futons. They are armchairs normally. We had a big couch one too that became a double bed but got rid of that eventually as it got quite saggy as a couch.

Agree. If people complain about what you can offer, there are other options available to them.

I have an IKEA sofabed (FRIHETEN), but that's because I use it myself in the office, too.

I love this option.

we do have a guest room with a double bed, but no space for additional furniture, also due to sloping ceilings.

Is the problem that you’ve got multiple guests so they won’t all fit in the double bed?

yes, often we have relatives stay, i.e. parents with their children. or a couple who need separate bedrooms for medical reasons.

We ended up buying a new mattress for FIL wife as she complained the mattress was too soft. I was young and stupid and eager to please. After nearly 25 years of marriage I have worked out I can’t please her!
