Cleaning behind cooker

Do people clean behind their gas cookers? I realised I have never pulled mine out to clean behind it lol is it safe to do it?

Yes, I’ve always cleaned behind my free standing cookers. It gets pretty mucky if you don’t.

Nowadays my cooker is built in but not my dishwasher or fridge so both of these appliances are regularly pulled out. It’s surprising how bits & dust get trapped underneath & behind.

In my opinion hidden grubby areas contribute to how your house smells to visitors. Not on my watch!

Yes I think you are right i am getting new flooring laid so I don’t want there to be a lot of dirt behind it 😳

I just dropped butter down the side of mine (gas hob/electric oven range cooker) so I had to pull it out and clean behind. I normally do it once a year or two. I kept it out all day. Did a wall and floor wash with disinfectant soap, rinse wipe and followed up with mould inhibitor. Then left it with the windows open to air it. It gets black mould patches on the wall, and dust and bits of food find their way behind it. Not too bad, but should probably be done every few months. I disconnect the gas hose to get it far enough out, though the electric cable is long enough. There’s also an anti-tip chain to reconnect. I can get the stick vacuum between the legs to reach most of the floor between times.

I have a mini range. I have never cleaned behind it (or any other cooker I've ever owned anywhere) unless I've pulled it out to replace it.

I don't intend to start now.

I suppose if I tipped a jug of custard down the back then that might change.
