Back in a bit!

OP posts:
littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 13:45

Hi all...sorry haven't had a chance to catch up, but needed a rant!

(sorry in advance)

I have just come home from town, and been involved in a car incident.
I was following a big Hanson Aggregates Wagon, got half way up a very steep hill and he decides to stop. I stop accordingly and indicate to go around him, before I have managed to do anything else he starts reversing!!!!!!!
I beep the horn and look horrified as the huge Lorry looms towards me and have no option to reverse (or be severley squashed and as DD2 is in the front passanger seat (in her car seat)...NO THANKS!)
Then I realise the car behind, which by now is very close, isn't moving out the way, and I reverse into his bumper.
Luckily I don't think there is much damage...it just looked scratched a bit to me....not cracked.
Our back bumper is cracked though!

The chap behind me gets out and takes all my details down...takes a photo of his car (yes...he had a camera!) and informs me he is going to take it to his garage to get checked out.

Meanwhile the Hanson man has completed his reverse into the forestry site pull in. So I go over and give him a piece of what for...and did he not see me etc.etc.etc. and he point blank refuses to give me any details whatsoever!!
He says I was in the wrong for driving too close!
The bloomin idiot has stopped out of nowhere...no warning, hazards or anything and started merrily reversing back into a layby, with me and another car right behind him.
He obviously just didn't look or see me, and refused to accept the responsibility completely.
I had no option but to try and reverse out of his way, otherwise he'd have mashed the car!
He then tells me "I'm not argueing with a woman...I have been driving these roads for 40 years and you are all the bloody same"

Well he has messed with the wrong WOMAN this time!

Oooooh I'm MAD ANGRY!

EustaciaVye · 26/06/2008 13:47

If you have the name of the company he was working for then contact them, get his details for your insurance and make a formal complaint to his company at the same time. They will know who was in that area at that time.

Littlemissloopy How horrible for you. Glad you are ok though and car not crumpled.

I have a huge pile of socks to pair up!

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 13:50

Thanks EV...I have already done that, I took down the registration number before I left.
I have phoned the police too, as I do believe it is an offense to not give details at the scene of an accident.

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 13:53

The Regional Office for Hanson suspects he was a contract driver, so I'm waiting to get a call back from the area contract organiser.
I gave a description of the driver to our local police.

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 13:56

Thanks tort and ruby

dylsmum1998 · 26/06/2008 14:06

LML how terrible and scary. did the driver behind see what happened (possibly not to have not thought to revere?) and act as a witness to explain why you rversed into him for insurance etc.

what a bloody horrrible man the aggregate driver is, i hate those trucks far too big and scary

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 14:12

Do you know, I think the man behind may be completely useless....he actually knew the aggregate driver, and they had a merry old discussion in Welsh about it all!
The lorry driver then went on to tell me that the man in the car behind used to be a lorry driver too!
I then said to him "Well I hope you told him HE was driving too close aswell then, because he was right behind you too!"

We have to put up with these wagons day in day out, as we live very close to a quarry. I have has a wing mirror ripped off before now, because they just don't have any regard on these tiny winding roads.

lml...how horrible for you and DD. I had a similar incident happen to me years ago. Driving along..car in front stops to let a car go in front of him...not enough room so car in front puts his car into reverse and starts driving back towards me..car behind me didn't get out the way in time so I got hit on the front and pushed into the car behind me! I got out...had a go at the driver in front of me for not looking behind himself before reversing..said he couldn't see me and then I noticed he didn't have a rear view mirror so no wonder he couldn't see me! I had damage to both the front and back of my car..I was so angry.

The scariest part of it for me was seeing this guy's reverse lights come on and him start driving back towards me...and I'm powerless to do anything cos I couldn't get out the way with a car up my backside. No matter how much I sounded the horn on my car he kept coming backwards. Horrible.

Anyway...scatty...we've got guinea pigs..not normal pigs! We've got three.

Right best get on. I have two hungry, tired, sweaty children that need my attention.

Notquitegrownup · 26/06/2008 16:25

Well! Day 1 and I am a convert.

I did my flylady baby step of cleaning the kitchen sink and then got on with my list of things to do:

Clean bath Done
Washing on and hung out. Done
Hoover lounge and hall. Done
Paint downstairs loo door ? scrubbed down ready to paint.
Lunch - done
Post letters on the way to school. Done

A really productive morning, before going to school to take the cycling proficiency course - bit as my bike only comes out once a year . . . but I am very good at hand signals!!

So how long have you all been flying then?

Notquitegrownup · 26/06/2008 16:34

lml - how awful for you. I was in my car behind a girl on a bike once, when a lorry reversed towards her. It was horrific watching everything go into slow motion. I leant on my horn as hard as I could and he stopped with her hands trapped against the back of his van/lorry, he was so close!!!

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 16:39

Hello

nqgu Hello well done on your list...and sink. At least you get out on your bike, even if it is only a little bit...I don't actually own one

I have been FLYing since October 2006

sounds like a long time actually, I didn't realise I was into year 2 already!

Well after my complaining and phoning up various people, I have a name of the obnoxious driver, and the name of the man who owns the vehicle. Strangely enough, although the lorry was plastered in Hanson logos, it isn't actually owned or run by Hanson...it is owned by a haulage company. The owner of the haulage company is away until Monday apparently, but the Police are going to follow it up. They can't really do anything apart from give them a telling off, and make sure that in future the driver is less obnoxious and gives his details.......which is absolutely fine by me.
(although I would have liked to have seen him strung up by his flumps )

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 16:44

oh...xposts...it is a horrid sight to see, especially when you know you can't actually do anything! My worry was that the back of the truck would have smashed the windscreen if I had stayed put, as it was high, and stuck out at the back.

I bet the poor girl on the bike was very grateful for you and your horn!

whispywhisp · 26/06/2008 17:25

Hi all

...well both kids now fed. Both now need sticking in the bath. Next job is to put 2nd lot of washing out. Its still really warm and blowy here. Put pigs away. Take dog for quick walk. Nip to Tescos to buy some chocolate for a project DD1 is doing at school. Normally have loads of the stuff at home but with me on my diet all choccie was banned! Then it'll be bedtime for the kids and hopefully I will get to read more than a couple of pages of my book before I nod off!

dylsmum1998 · 26/06/2008 17:43

evening all well my car window is fixed and the man gve the back seat etca good hoover for me. he says its part of the job to clear his mess but as i live so high in the block he guessed my hoover wouldnt reach to do it properly so he did it for me.
the police have phoned to say they wont bother coming out to the car as they wont be able to get any evidence off it anyway so whoever did it is going to get away scott free!!
ds is fed. dd is still refusing to eat dinner so not even getting into battle, dinner on table if you want it
mines just cooking now as i dont like lasagne so i have a nice steak cooking
have been sorting through my bedroom and found 22 things to put on ebay and i know there is more in my hall and bathroom shit store cupboards
does anyone have a clue when the next cheap listing day is- i want as much profit as possible

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 18:24

for you dyls especially as the police can't do anything
At least it is all fixed and the nice man (there are one or two nice ones around which is nice to see!) has cleaned it all up too.

Good luck with the ebaying BTW, no idea about the cheap listings though.

dylsmum1998 · 26/06/2008 18:48

thanks lml i keep wanting to call you by your old name and just stopping myself before i type.
if police cant do anything about your nasty man, doe sthat mean the blame will be placed on you for the accident? ( so not fair if it is!)

Bewilderbeast · 26/06/2008 18:49

evening all

feeling very very down and black-doggish today, desperately want to curl up in a ball and sleep for a few weeks I cannot cope with all the shite at the moment

have done nothing, have spent day soaked to the skin and my joints are killing me. I strongly suspect I will be doing nothing all evening

littlemissloopy · 26/06/2008 19:01

Sadly, I guess it will dyls because I did actaully back into the other car. I'll just have to wait and see if his insurance company write to me....TBH I didn't do very much damage I don't think...just a bit of a scrape to his bumper.

BB you sound very low...have a {{HUG}} Is there anything we can do? You sound like you need a good hot bath.
Hope tomorrow brings a better day xx

whispywhisp · 26/06/2008 19:55

BB...sending a big hug your way..xxxxxxx

Well I've just started getting a stonker of a sore throat so that'll be me with a cold for the next few days no doubt. Felt a bit yeucky yesterday but put it down to being on a strict diet!

Always the way re the car and the little sods who broke into yours dyl isn't it? They always get away with it don't they. Too bloody easy these days. The guys who burgled us years ago got away with it too..even though the Police knew who broke into our home they didn't have enough evidence to charge them.

dylsmum1998 · 26/06/2008 19:56

i do hope they dont, msybe his excess is more than a bumper, i hope so for you.
reminds me of a few mnths back i was driving down a busy narrow road and a van tried to squeeze past a bus- never gonna work. so van starts reversing i put mine into reverse, could seee he wanted to move back as it was wider where i was, but car behind me wouldnt move he was chatting away on his phone and hadnt noticed what was happenineg. the van driver got out out went to shout at me to move, i cut in a quick and said exvuse me but where would you like me to go he's to busy on his phone to move from up my a*. turns out the car behind me's reverse was broken so he he was on the phone hoping i'd desappear or soemthing. dont know what the logic was

dylsmum1998 · 26/06/2008 19:58

BB i hope your feeling better tomorrow

dylsmum1998 · 26/06/2008 19:59

ruby i missed your post earlier- how did you get sawdust in your bra have you had a nice carpenter round?
