Dyson hoover alternative

My Dyson had packed in after 8 years and I always thought I’d buy another or look at Shark. However, I’m seriously wondering if I need either and if there are any cheaper brands that are worth buying? I live alone and only have carpet upstairs and I am hardly in any of my rooms other than living space. So thought I’d try a cheaper alternative. I do have stairs so ideally not some big bulky machine!

I did not like Dyson at all, (had 2). Now have a Samsung and it is so good. And a good old fashion Henry which is also very good.

Henry is the best, I’ve tried them all and back to Henry. Cordless Henry is very good

I have a Miele which has amazingly strong suction and small enough to carry on the stairs

Is Henry easy to use on the stairs?

No. Heavy and awkward.

I bought a cordless vax for stairs … it is OK but nowhere near as good as Henry.

Up until recently, we had a very large, very shedding dog. 🥺 She is responsible for the murder of three very expensive, top of the range, pet hair suitable Dysons. The last Shark we still have and it’s about seven years old.

I am a cleaner and I can honestly say I have never found a cordless hoover that is worth buying. Even the ones that start out well quickly stop being as effective.

I regularly do whole staircases with a corded Henry or similar. I typically go down stairs rather than up them, have a short hose and suitable attachment, and lean it against my legs as I do each stair.

The clients most impressed with the "transformative" clean they get from me are those who have a cordless hoover as simply giving their place a proper vacuum with a efficient corded machine makes such a difference.

Really depends on your situation- I think a corded Henry is always going to be more powerful but for me (lots of stairs including very tight corners in a very old house) light weight and flexibility come first. I have a Shark and I love it.

I have a Miele cat and dog, and would never have any other kind of vacuum cleaner. For a short while I had a Dyson cordless, but it was shit (friend gave it to me after a family member went into residential care, I didn't buy it, thank goodness! I gave it back to her).

I’ve had a cordless Dyson and a shark. The shark was the most temperamental vacuum I’ve ever owned. We’ve now got a corded Henry, which is bulletproof, and a cordless levoit. Both excellent and combined cost is less than the Dyson or shark!
