How to wash a squashy mattress topper?

I finally bought one and it’s very comfy 😀

It’s machine washable and you unzip the two layers for washing. Tried to wash it today and my poor machine just about coped with one half but it was seriously overstuffed. I’m worried to do the other half in case it breaks it.

Do you wash them? Or air them out instead? Or should there be some sort of huge protector over it ? First world problem obviously, but I didn’t think about it 😄

I usually wash them in the bath and hang them out in a hot sunny day. It involves a very quick run downstairs to the garden!

You can find extra large washing machines in your local laundrette though.

I would use a mattress protector over the top so you don’t need to wash it very often. Then if it’s too big for your washer could you use one of those self service washing machine you see outside some petrol stations which are huge (you will need to google for the closest one).

I took mine to one of these washing machines you see at garages or supermarkets. Massive drums and I also use them for my king size duvet.
