I need a comfy sofabed or futon

I mostly hate sleeping on people's sofabeds, especially with DH as they are narrow and you can feel the other person breathing etc. We have a tiny 4th bedroom which will be the guest room, and will need to accommodate elderly inlaws. We are looking for something that is max 1.98m long and max 1.84m wide when open, and preferably 1.84m wide when shut, but that is going to be good to sleep on. My choices seem to be 1) a trifold futon (practiced on these at the Futon Company and they were rickety) 2) a single bed with another one underneath which comes out and up to same level or 3) a narrow sofabed. Option 1 or 3 would look best when bed not in use, i guess, but i imagine 2 might be comfiest. the room never needs to be 'sat' in, just slept in, but that probably won't happen more than once a month. Any ideas?

I love your accurate measurements!

You have to go for a genuine Aerobed.

We've had lots of guests over the years and they have patiently suffered on our succession of sofabed, divan-plus-underbed and futon, now all thankfully consigned to Freecycle or the tip.

Apart from a proper full double bed, IME the Aerobeds are the most comfortable. Even my mum gets a good night's sleep - and she is like the Princess and the Pea. We have a single and a double.

They are a million miles away from camping-style airbeds and IMO worth every penny. Only downside is being a bit cold, just put a cheap single duvet or folded blanket under the sheet. Raised one might be a good idea for the elderly.
