Shark not picking up

My Shark AZ910 anti hair wrap / lift away is about 4 years old. Gets heavily used, dog hairy house and dirty muddy kids hobbies.

its stopped picking up properly, got to go over the carpet several times to get sock fluff and dirt. I’ve washed all the filters and roller, and checked all the pipes. I’ve even tried a new floor nozzle. Any ideas please?

any advice welcome, I don’t really have funds to buy a new one. thanks

I found mine was completely clogged in the little bend at the floor attachment. When I cleared that and cleaned all the filters (including the larger plastic one I don’t think I had actually cleaned before), it worked perfectly.

I had exactly the same.

Yes the bend will be full of crap. Take it apart as much as you can and then straighten out the bend, tip upside down and lots of stuff will fall out

Nothing in the bend, I’ve had it all apart several times.

Have I missed a filter? There’s the two circular ones that live under the waste bin, and the rectangular one on the front of the lift away bit which has a black foam bit behind it?

This bit of foam looks really dirty but I can’t see how to get it out. Any ideas please ?

mine has a v teeny hold in the tube where I managed to vacuum up a needlework pin. That small hole means it won’t suck up anything of note. I’ve dug my old Henry (which I hate) out as I refuse to give up on it, but not sure if it’s worth the £70 for the part.

Try and order a new filter

Have you taken the roller out of the bottom part? I had a hair grip stuck in there and it stopped picking up. I also cut the hair stuck in the ‘anti hair wrap’ part and it worked better than ever!

Fab ideas here, I’ll wash to roller too and clean it all up and order some new filters. Fingers crossed

Check where bought it from. if Currys , theywill have kept your email receipt, they have a 5 year warrenty on sharks.return to store, show proof of purchase, either fixed or get another one same price

Those things are absolute crap, we got that after our Dyson which was equally rubbish.

we got a Miele with a cord after that and it's absolutely amazing. Never buying cordless again.

Give shark customer service a call, they are amazing. They will do a video call to diagnose the problem and is it’s within warranty (within 5 years I believe ) they will send you a new one

This exact thing happened to my shark liftaway last week! I took the head off and the bendy pipe at the bottom was blocked with hair. I had to poke it out with a long sharp stick. Very satisfying!

Ours stopped picking up when the bendy pipe between the footplate and the main tube developed a split in one of the ‘concertina’ folds. Hard to see as was hidden in the fold.

we purchased a non original replacement from eBay and followed a YouTube video to fit it and it worked like a dream.

New filters can help too. I’ve found they degrade after washing them out over several years.

All hoses are clear, couldn’t see any splits, and new filters haven’t made much difference. Will dig out the receipt and call shark.
