Window cleaning rates

We're getting a window cleaner for the first time. We've been in the house for nearly two years and have just completed building work so the windows are visible dirty.

I've been quoted £70 for our first window cleaning and £40 for a routine clean every couple of months thereafter. I'd probably stretch this to a few times a year.

This is more than I expected as a friend locally pays around £20 for a clean every three months (but she's not happy with her cleaner).

Does the price we've been quoted seem reasonable? We're in the Home Counties.

Wow, that seems expensive! I live in the midlands and have a 3 bed semi with a conservatory, our window cleaner comes once a month and we pay £12. Not sure if it would cost more if i just had the windows cleaned every couple of months though.

cupfinalchaos · 05/04/2026 09:32

Depends on size of house I think? We pay £75 for a 6 bed.

ImSorryMsJackson · 05/04/2026 09:45

Sorry should have said, it's a four bed semi with the fourth room in a loft conversion (we don't need the roof windows cleaned for the time being). On the ground and first floor there are 7 windows and large full height windows around two sides of a small extension.

We’re in the NW, and pay £22 every 6 weeks, for 17 windows and a large conservatory.

Astra53 · 05/04/2026 10:04

Live very outer London £20 for 6 windows (4 big, 2 small), double patio doors, and front door and surrounding glass. £10 extra for lean to conservatory roof. Every 6 weeks.

LastHotel · 05/04/2026 10:07

That’s quite cheap compared to where I am. I decided it was too expensive, so we don’t have one. Most window cleaners want a regular contract, so it much more expensive to pay for one-off cleans occasionally.

Gloriousgardener11 · 05/04/2026 10:08

Live in the South West, detached house.
Front and back door, patio door and 11 windows in total = £20
We've had our window cleaner for about 25 years.
What you’ve been quoted sounds expensive.

Also N West before we moved it was £8 for a 3 bed detached. Downsized and it’s double but for 2 cleaners and just once a month. They do a good job and there’s a lot of glass.

Soontobe60 · 05/04/2026 10:16

We have 5 big windows and French doors plus front door with glass. We pay £5 to have them cleaned fortnightly.

MadisonAvenue · 05/04/2026 10:18

We pay £18 every two months for a four bed detached. That’s nine windows, front door and French windows. This is the East Midlands.

We moved from the West Midlands last Autumn and for a three storey house with more windows and an extra door we were paying £14.

ByTheSea · 05/04/2026 10:18

I’m in North Essex, 4bed detached, £24 every other month. Been using him for at least ten years and the rate’s not raised so he may charge more for new clients.

Twasasurprise · 05/04/2026 10:24

21 windows and 5 doors, £33 in the rural SW. I think we're on a 10-12 week cycle, and they charge extra (+£10) if we stretch it out much further than that.

I think ours is relatively cheap, so your quote doesn't sound that bad to me.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 05/04/2026 10:29

I thought that mine was expensive at £18 a time (North Wales), but I let them off as they are one of few companies from the nearest town that will come so far out into the countryside. That's for 13 windows and 2 doors.

I think that I'd faint with shock and say no if I had your quotes, OP!

Riapia · 05/04/2026 10:38

I pay £7 for windows on 3 bed bungalow. Monthly. East mids.

Beachforever · 05/05/2026 10:07

I have just search MN for window cleaning posts as I’ve just received a quote and was flabbergasted but didn’t know if I was out of touch.

Standard Victorian terraced house in SW London, £160 for external windows only. £220 if I want insides doing too!

Belladog1 · 05/05/2026 10:10

I had mine cleaned every month and it cost me £20. I changed it to every other month as it was a pain, and he upped it to £25.

I'm in the SE and have a 3 bed semi.

BillieWiper · 05/05/2026 10:15

Our one charges £6 per window both sides.

canyon2000 · 05/05/2026 16:47

I pay £15 for a 3 storey, 4 bed once a month. That is 12 windows, front door and 2 patio doors. It would be £20 if it was every 2 months.
West Yorkshire.
