They’ve got a lot better than they were.

The main downside is that the dryer capacity is never as large as the washer capacity, so you either need to do smaller loads of washing or split the washing up before the drying cycle.

No specific recommendations as mine is great but discontinued! But I’d definitely go on the more expensive brand side of things if you can afford to.

People hate them because they think they can dry the same amount as they can wash but that’s not how they work. I had a washer dryer when my stand alone tumble dryer had to live in the garage. It was really handy for drying a ‘few bits’ like when you forget you’ve got no school jumpers for the next day, but there’s no point filling it with towels.

I love mine! But a full wash and dry cycle is 4 hours. I have the Argos Bush one.

thanks yeah I wouldn’t use the dryer much as I’m so used to hanging it on a clothes horse but would be helpful in winter for just giving a few bits and bobs a spin.

sounds silly but I presume you can programme just a wash and just a dry and then also programme it to do a wash, straight into a dry, if that makes sense?

Yes you can, my current washing machine is a washer dryer and I’ve never used the dryer part!

I've got the Bush one from Argos too. My previous one was Hotpoint and it lasted about 14 years.

Mostly I just use the washing machine function. I like to have the dryer option though. I use the dryer function for clothes that are needed quickly or to just finish off clothes that have been hung up to dry but are still slightly damp.

I'm happy with what it does.
