Has anyone tried Surf detergent, and is it suitable for kids?

Has anyone tried Surf laundry detergent? I’ve always stuck with persil/fairy but seen some quite good offers in Tesco for surf. Think they do fancy scents but not sure if its actually any good or good for kids?

I haven’t and wouldnt, those artificial scents are horribly full of chemicals. Wouldnt want that near my children

Nobody will have tried it. It’s only been in the shops for about seventy five years.

Surf is fine. Ive used it when its on offer. My kids have no issues with any of the detergents ive used and ive used plenty of different brands. Im currently using Morrison's own make powder

My MIL uses Surf and the few times she’s washed the kids clothes when staying over summer hols I’ve had to wash again - the scent is so strong and sorry, awful. My kids haven’t reacted to it but I imagine kids with sensitive skin would be more likely to.

Also want to add I’m not one of the MNers who detest all synthetic scents - I love cleaning products that smell nice etc - but Surf really is a different kind of cloying smell. You’ll miss your Fairy :)

All the big name branded detergents are very perfumed; I don't think Persil or Fairy are any better. I personally love the clean smell of Daz for sheets and towels but I think it's a bit harsh on coloured clothes so tend to use something gentler for them.

Out of interest what do you use then or do you avoids strongly scented ones?

I use surf or Daz. Never considered it being unsafe for anyone.

When that happens i usually need to scrub the roof bit of the washing machine where the drawer fits in as the little holes get blocked . Same when liquid gets left in the softener dispenser

@dementedpixie @BeMellowAquaSquid I put my washing machine drawer in the dish washer every now and then, when it's not quite full.

We put our powder straight into the drum and it's much better that way.

@dementedpixie @BeMellowAquaSquid I put my washing machine drawer in the dish washer every now and then, when it's not quite full.

Its the roof bit of the machine that often needs cleaning as thats where the water comes into the drawer. I use spray and a toothbrush to unclog the holes there
