Cast iron -v- cast aluminium pots

I'm looking for a new pot that can go from the hob to the oven. Does anyone have any prefernces between cast iron and cast aluminium? Only considering aluminium because it's much lighter.

Have you considered stainless steel? A good heavy steel pan with metal handles can go in the oven. I like cast iron as well but I assume you mean enamel and there can be issues with the glazes so a bit of research is needed.

I've got lots of lovely Le Creuset casserole dishes that we were gifted for our wedding 32 years ago. They are beautiful and still going strong.

However I hardly ever use them as they are so heavy. I've swapped to cast aluminium and don't regret it at all.

Yes, the two I've been looking at, Staub and Procook, are both enamelled cast iron

The pans I use look like cast iron but are aluminium. It's a brand called Masterclass.
