Weekend house blitz accountability thread

My house needs a spring clean, its not too cluttered, well it is but with things that need putting away rather than getting rid of. Saying that the paper bin was emptied this morning and a have loads dotted about (toilet rolls , post, food packaging)

I cant do extra washing as the tumble dryer is broken and the weather isn't good enough, but will do the usual weekly clothes.

Writing this has already helped with where to start, going to go through the house and gather all the paper/cardboard and get it in the wheelie bin

On that I have a box of my year 9 sons year 7 books that he said I can bin, I have been keeping it for a trip to the skip but dont think I will be going any time soon and they have been in my dinning room since Christmas, shall I put them in the wheelie bin? Its quite heavy.

Where are the toilet rolls and rubbish “dotted around”?

1willgetthere · 27/02/2026 16:36

Toilet rolls in the 2 toilet rooms, post on the dinning table and by the front door, food packet cardboard on the side in the kitchen and in a recycling bin in the kitchen which is full.
It's all clean rubbish
But yes the place needs a good clean. Still not started though. Moving now

My house needs a spring clean too and I just cannot be arsed. I saw an ad on facebook a lady sole trader doing 3 hour spring/deep cleans for £50 which I thought was quite reasonable so i've booked her in.

In the time it took to type this you could have sorted it😉

Yes it needs a good tidy before any cleaning can begin. Paper waste has now gone.

Dh Just gone too until late tomorrow night, with our shared car so thats why I thought its a good time for a 2 day (or friday eve and sat) blitz

😂 I know.

Writing it out helps be to focus on what needs doing.

Dinning table , then kitchen . Head phones going on

I cleared the dinning table and washed the table cloth. Did the kitchen surfaces, hob, cupboard doors and kick boards, and hoovered down stairs. Then sat down at 8:30 and had my dinner than didnt do any more other than hang up a white/pale wash.

This mornings plan is to do a 10k run (im slow will take 1.5 hours) then a dark wash, clean bathroom and downstairs toilet/utility

Fairplay on the housework motivation, especially doing so after a 10k run. You've got this.
