How can I get rid of cooking smells?

Teenage son insists on frying loads of his lunches & my house is starting to small like a greasy spoon permanently rather than the odd day.. any tips on good odour killers/ room fresheners? We have a very large open plan kitchen so lots of space to fill & freshen! Thanks in advance.

My Dad cooks a lot of fish, I bought them a few Price's Chef's candles when they were on offer in Sainsburys. My said they helped, possibly she was being polite. Does your son turn the cook hood/extractor on?

I despise the smell of cooking and insist on having the doors and windows open during cooking, even if it’s ice cold outside. My poor kids and DH!

Open the window.

Agree with PP, light a candle or essential oil burner with a tea light under it. The oil in the air will burn with the candle flame.

Get DC to wash the extractor hood inside and out, and put the filters through the dishwasher. replace if it’s a disposable one. Putting in a bit of dirty work might make him more sparing with the oil. An airfryer also cuts down on oil and time.

I got a Lampe Berger (catalytic burner that runs on special liquid) which is supposed to disinfect the air, but the liquid is too expensive for more than occasional use IMO!

Yep (thanks @blacksax! )- we always have the windows open too but it seems to linger.. I’ve got a neom diffuser I’m using but maybe we he needs to wash the extractor filter more often.. got an air fryer but it’s steak & eggs that are the main culprits- he’s a gym bro 🤣 & after years of chicken nuggets, I can only encourage it.. but the smell!!!!
