Need some ideas or no ideas for the front of my house - plants/flowers wise

We are stuck for ideas as we dug out a hedge 2 years ago which it was in front of the living room bay window but it was causing structural damage to the bay window. Now its just bare with nothing in it. The narrowest ground width is about 1 foot and the widest bit is about over 2 foot from the brick and its straight into the public pavement.

We live opposite a very busy bus stop so thats whats stopping us!

or do we just get rid of the soil and put concrete on it instead and nothing else??

not sure I understand - what are you looking for? something pretty or a barrier? is teh road/bus stop only a foot away?

you could plant holly - that would keep people away from your windows.

or fill the whole thing with something really tough but low and not invasive, like cranesbill (pretty flowers in summer) or lavender, or herbs like rosemary or sage

If you want something pretty - how about a low wooden fence with clematis montana growing over it. Its really fast growing so will cover the fence quickly and you will have something that looks like hedge but is much narrower, won't grow too tall and flowers in the spring/early summer.

Personally I'd want to mark out my territory a bit.
Would a picket fence suffice? Or railings? Or maybe you could get hold of a railway sleeper and put that along the boundary line? Or maybe you cold try planting a box hedge? Quite trendy atm too. (I should imagine the roots are fairly self-contained.)
We built a brick wall in front of ours when the old breeze block affair fell down. Looks fantastic and has added to the look of the house, but when it was first done people did sit on it etc. Cost though.
Behind that gravel is the order of the day around here. Most with a central border.
Look at your neighbours' gardens and pick out the bits you like from their gardens (that's what I did).

yes the bus stop is literally right outside my front door. The neighbours doesnt have a bus stop outside their house so they either got a hedge/ wall - (dont want a wall or otherwise people will start sitting on it whilst waiting for the bus and i wont be able to see out of the window!), a tiny bunch of flowers but i can see mine getting nicked. The people arent close to our window or otherwise they will get badly pricked!! as the pavement is about 5 foot wide and a huge bus shelter is there too.

Would love a box window but i cant see it happening here. Poss best to buy a low wooden fence and plant some clematis montana over it to make it pretty and fingers cross it doesnt get dug up!!
