Upright freezer drawers

I’ve got a tall upright freezer. I’ve always had a problem with the drawers. They seem too narrow for the width of the freezer, constantly incredibly difficult to get them to fit the runners both sides. It’s really hard for the drawer not to be on a slope. Then the drawer doesn’t close properly.

The drawers are original. They have a glass shelf that is removable that divide the spaces. Although they don’t actually sit on them These always used to add to the problem as they come out and slide around. We removed them for ages and reluctantly put them back because of the drawer issue. But it’s not made a difference.

Anyone else got an issue with their drawers not fitting?

Sorry this is such a boring question and I hope I’ve explained it ok. I’m probably just looking for solidarity. But hoping for tips.

Thsnks

No, I don't have an issue with the drawers. Is it a frost free freezer? Does it need frost clearing? Any reviews online for that model with the same issues? Some WD40 might help the runners- BUT, I don't know if that's advised to use inside a freezer. Maybe olive oil?

No problems with my drawers, and I've had several upright freezers. (2 full size in use for years.)

What make is the freezer? I have Beko and Samsung currently.

It almost sounds like your drawers shrink slightly when frozen, so are no longer wide enough for the runners.

It’s a Hotpoint.

My drawers are like this - and a couple have shattered or cracked when DH or DS1 have been too rough “unsticking them”

new ones are £££ so I now have some just as shelves - good for boxed things, stacked Tupperware and then I have a couple of fridge drawer things from the middle aisle if I need them.

essentially - ditch the drawers if you can!

Ah! Another fellow sufferer! It’s infuriating. The plastic on the edges are cracked and chipped. Tbf they are probably very heavy because they are very full. But everything fits (just about).

Even if I replaced the entire freezer at some point, because so much is purchased online these days, I don’t know how I could check if a new one would be susceptible. Hotpoint is probably a mid range price brand but it’s definitely a bit cheap on the drawer front.

The freezer is not frosted up.

And the ditching of the drawers is a thought @Chocolateteabag. Because the alarm goes off when I spend time trying to fix the issue I definitely get a bit rough because I get a bit desperate!
