And is there a way to resurrect those already gone blue/grey?

Don’t buy white ones. That’s all I’ve got (bad housekeeper)

I was hoping for good answers too as not sure of the answer ! I never replace my tea towels so they do look a bit lacking in freshness!

i only buy charcoal grey ones. Problem solved!

Taser anyone using a tea towel for anything other than drying dishes.

Buy white ones and bleach them.

Tortephant · 24/01/2026 15:45

Sodium percarbonate

HouseAshamed · 24/01/2026 15:47

Dye them blue.

My dodgy teatowels get put in my rags box in the garage and replaced with new ones. Always buy decent quality ones, always patterned, always ironed after washing. I don’t want my lovely kitchen ruined by manky teatowels 🤣

I use mine for everything apart from drying dishes 😂

My rule with things like towels, tea towels and bedding is no white or all white. If it's all white you can bleach, boil, do whatever and it won't mess up the other coloured parts. If it's coloured then you don't want any white as it'll go dingy eventually and you wont be able to bleach, or you'll be worried about the colour running onto the white. I'm no great housekeeper but I am lazy so try to buy things that don't make more work for myself!

All my tea towels are patterned or solid colours so stains are hidden. Anything white in this house gets that Oxyclean stuff in the wash so they are all white still.

I would not want white tea towels as I cook curries and tomato based sauces and I am a little messy. I always have a tea towel tucked into my apron ties to wipe my hands as I cook.
