Sell Your Books decluttering help!!!

Im going mad here, I made a concerted effort to de clutter and thought I would take advice and try to sell books and CDs

Its been nothing but a nightmare and faff

The final box of books I have so far (the rest are going down the dump I cant deal with this nonsense) when I did the trade, it wouldnt let me arrange a drop off at the local shop, I had 5 previous boxes which were able to be dropped off at the shop but for some reason not this set of books, no explanation and no option, just collection by DPD

Ive taken a day off work and waited around, collection was meant to be between 8 and 5. Ive just had a message to say the collection couldnt take place because 'the pick up point was closed'

I have no idea what this means, no method of contacting DPD as theres nothing else on the page, just the message saying this

Theres no way of speaking to someone at Sell your Books, they dont have an email address only a chatbot which does not have an option to be put forward to an agent. Their facebook link goes through to World of Books which is their selling arm, not their buying arm.

Anyone got contact details for them that actually work?

thanks

I told you at the time…

just take to charity shop and don’t let these books derail you from the pretty huge clutter that lay ahead of you!

You took a day off??!

How could I be at home between 8-5 if I didnt?

The charity wont take it and I couldnt get rid of them at the book bin at the dump

Do you have a number for them to help me?

When I’ve sold via WofB, I have left on front door step

but you actually took annual leave to wait for a collection of books you don’t want? Who much have they even offered you for the box??

ThatZippyFinch · 20/01/2026 15:01

If charity won’t take…. Leave outside with a sign…. Free books

soupyspoon · 20/01/2026 15:08

I think its the dump for them quite honestly, what a faff

The biggest issue is you just cant get through or have a method of contacting any company these days

Their 'contact us' pages are just a list of questions and answers or at best a chat bot which just does the same thing.

I think that particular box was £15, overall with the CDs and the other books it was around £120 so no small amount but then the hours its taken me to do all of this, it doesnt feel worth it

Plus no the charity isnt taking at the moment, theres signs up on their doors, the ones I can get to anyway

I still have more to go through, its not holding me back though Ive been working through stuff that you definitely cant sell and needs dumping

Most supermarkets have book shelves for charity donations and will take them? I know Tesco stores do

Our Co-op has a charity book shelf as well.

Wow! I had 2 boxes and it was about 25 quid. No problem with collection though.

Any local second hand bookshops? Ours buys them for cash, just turn up with the books
