Crisp, cool, heavyweight percale?

Hi, Not sure if this is the best board for this but hoping someone can help!

We're looking for heavyweight percale bedding in white that's got that heavy, cool and crisp feel. We've tried M&S, John Lewis and White Company so far and all have disappointed as they're just not heavyweight enough.

Any recommendations? Bonus points if they can deliver quickly.

TK Maxx

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like the 800 thread count is sateen rather than percale though. Will see if we can find reviews of their 300 tc percale though.

Tk maxx is worth a rummage too - will have a look next time we're nearby

I have 400 tc bedding from Soak & Sleep that should fit the bill. Mine is about 10 years old though, so can’t speak for their current offerings and quality. Watching this thread as I need to replace mine but Soak & Sleep have stopped posting overseas and so far I haven’t been able to find anything else I like at a halfway reasonable price.

Looking at the Soak & Sleep website, most of their bedding appears to be a sateen wave, too. At least the one I have does feel like your typical crisp and cool hotel bedding, though. Not shiny, slippery and a bit limp and thin like sateen wave bedding from many other brands.

I have organic cotton 400tc bed linen from Naturalmat and it is as you describe. I can't see the exact same set on the website now (I've had it 5 years and it's as good as new) but this seems to be the current version: https://naturalmat.co.uk/products/500-thread-count-organic-cotton-duvet-cover

Apparently the organic fibres are longer therefore denser/heavier feeling even in lower tc

300 tc will not be heavyweight, I’ve got some 500 tc sheets they are thick and take ages to dry !

Fluffywabbits · 20/01/2026 21:28

Thanks all. All the 300TC that we've tried so far have been disappointing so do think we need a higher thread count. Just seems to be so many fewer options now than when we bought our last bedding (Sheridan which was excellent at the time). Sateen seems to be far more popular now but not the feel we like.

We haven't looked at Soak and sleep or Natural mat yet so we'll see what they have - thank you!

Following with interest as I came in here to ask something very similar.

SingleUseTeaTowel · 21/01/2026 20:33

@Fluffywabbits agree, my 500tc sheets and pillowcases are Sheridan I still have some wrapped, they’re beautiful and get better wash after wash - good luck with your quest

OchreSwan · 21/01/2026 23:01

Have you looked at Christy? We have some lovely percale sheets from there.
