my living room rug was looking the worse for wear, so yesterday i vacummed it, then used vanish foam spray on it, scrubbed it, and left it to dry over night. trhen vacummed it again today and it looks almost new.

was hard work but am refusing to buy a new one this year.

was only a 'cheapy' to some people but the thought of going to get another one was enough to make me work hard.

plus it was the only one i liked there when i got it last summer lol.

its cheap for a rug because the other ones i really liked were over £150 i found this one and fainted in delight at the price.

we have laminate floors everywhere due to dd's allergies so this is my one bit of luxury underfoot.

its situated in front of the sofa so it gets grubby with the kids tramping through to the garden.

i even managed to remove the dried on play dough. lol.

Very interested in your post misdee, i need a new rug and eventually threw my old one away, i was abit gutted as it was expensive but in the end it looked awful. I tried steam cleaning it but it looked worse, do you think your idea would work on a rug with quite a thick pile?
