TMH I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Thinking of you and your family.

Haven't got much done today, did shine my sink (well it's one of the plastic types so doesn't shine but is very very clean now)

Dp will be very confused when he sees all the usual mess but then my spotless sink.

Have put 2 loads in the wm, loaded the dw, but can't turn it on because I have no tablets, can't face washing up though.

TheMadHouse · 13/06/2008 15:46

Thank you ladies for all your kind words and thoughts. I have not done much flying. I took my mother shopping and dropped in to see SIL and Bro. Neice is absolutly beside herself, they are going to see L one last time before he is moved to Newcastle for a PM. They were all due on holiday next week to Turkey.

The sad thing is they neally .lost him at the very start, but were only at the hospital the week before last being told how well he was doing.

Also please dont go all somber on me, it wouldnt be right.

Ruby - I have used Clarks for a few years and have found recently they havent been stocked very well, fittings havent been done well etc. I took DD1 to a local independent shoe shop recently and she got some lovely (well made) summer shoes.

Ruby/Hunny, now you're really making me think I need to namechange.

I had the same problem the other day too, they had hardly any shoes in dd's size and the couple they did have were horrible, and not very summery, so I didn't get any either.
She is 11 months though so luckily is only walking in the house or garden.

hunny love the new name- have you tried the golden boot in maidstone? brilliant shop they sell clarks startrite and another make i dont recall, all fitted properly. i find they usually have more choice than clarks i've taken mine there for years

yeah its not as cheap as clarks at dockside is it!
they do have a loyalty card which i can imagine you'd fill v quickly each time you go it gets stamped and after so many times you get discount
5 pairs = 5%
10 =10%
15 =15%

i'm only on 2 pairs as ds is no longer allowed to wear shoes and dd doesnt grow very fast (not that i'm complaining!)

Jas · 13/06/2008 18:20

Condolences to your family TMH Very sad to hear the news

I would like to talk about milk.....

wrt prices.

6 pints from Tescos or similar is £2.15 ish
Currently on offer, (Tescos, Morrisons and Iceland all doing the same offer atm) so 12 pints is £3, or 8pints for £2.

We drink alot of milk, and at the prices our milkman charges, I could afford to pay for a weekly supermarket delivery with the saving!

I'e cut the grass today, but not much FLYing has been done.
DP put in an outside tap (it has been in the cupboard under the stairs for 10 years ) when he was supposed to be fitting the bath.

I did make the dds do 1/2 hour bedroom tidying before they went out after school today though

dylsmum1998 · 13/06/2008 18:34

proud mummy moment
i've set ds a task in his room each evening this week. it is looking much better in there now. he normally tidies and hoovers the floor each day and makes his bed. then every so often i go in and clean properly (bookshelves etc) but have been finding that he messes them back up in a day orso.
this week he has cleaned his book shelves off, his window ledge and cleared out under his bed. he's just finishing sorting out the residue from turfing out everything under his bed now. am so proud of him, he rose to challenge and hasnt moaned at all! and his room looks tonnes better already. am hoping that by getting him to do the whole room himself spread out over several days. he'll appreciate it more and keep it tidy.

EustaciaVye · 13/06/2008 18:51

Jas - you can freeze milk too.Worth having some in reserve. I always buy decent bread in weekly shop but by 4 -5 loaves and freeze them. Saves me going to local shop where it is more expensive.

Jas · 13/06/2008 19:12

Dylsmum - Why is your ds not allowed to wear shoes?
I may try the same thing with the dds.DD1s room is tiny and takes no time at all to tidy up (but she moans alot), dd2s is bigger, crammed with stuff and a constant mess (but she does tidy up without complaining)

I never get the chance to freeze milk...we get through about 8 pints a day! I have one loaf in the freezer, but my freezer is too small to take loads (and I can walk to the huge Tescos in 10 minutes)

dylsmum1998 · 13/06/2008 19:17

he has underdeveloped mitral (sp?) arches in his feet. so not even proper fitted clarks/ type shoes support his feet enough. he has to have the all singing dancing (and down right expensive!) running trainers with the supports in them. and his walking has improved in the few months we've been buying them but he's on his 4th pair! since january

tortoise · 13/06/2008 20:03

Evening all.
So sorry to hear about baby L. Your niece must be devastated.
I forgotten every thing else now.

DS's have gone to say last goodbyes to their Grandad.(XP1's dad)He has been in hospital since last weekend, nothing more they can do for him. I didn't really know him very well. DS's weren't that close to him so i don't know how they are going to take him dying.

Today i have sorted piles of washing again! Put some away but not all!

DS's are home. They are fine. Not bothered them at all yet!

tortoise · 13/06/2008 20:09

TMH Bianca sends her love.

Bewilderbeast · 13/06/2008 20:14

Evening all

Just been to have a pint of blood drained by the donor service - I got the trainee and my arm is feeling very bruised

Done

wm unloaded washing hung up machine back on
kitchen quickly tidied twice
living room quickly tidied and dps crap put back in the cupboard
lunch made for me and dp but I forgot to take mine to work
dinner made for ds which apparently he didn't like

need to go and see to garden but can't be bothered and dp is flipping between acting like a 6 year old (literally following me round and copying what I say, no idea why) and being mopey because I don't find his 6 year old behaviour particularly charming

grouchyoscar · 13/06/2008 20:28

Hello again

Ed's a wide 12 1/2 and wears the heels out on his shoes, even Clarkes. His Clarks pair have gone so I (Deep breath in) ... Got two pairs from Tesco....well they will wear out before they cause him a problem and the Clarks have gone Kaput and I was strapped for cash [Grouchy awaits flaming]

Done my to do list, Taken Ed to rugby (he loved it) and I've stopped. Done a to do list for the weekend and for Monday (when the people I need are there)...Too eager me.

DH is satarising/doing a parody of Coldplay and...He's got it right and making me laugh. I Like Coldplay before they got famous (same for Radiohead)...spot the too cool for school indie kid

Should I name change or stick to being Grouchy?

As I can only come up with ' Sagtitoldwitch' I'll stick to being Grouchy

Off to download depressing but deep and meaningful 'Alt Country' onto my IPOD Starting with Richard Buckner

Square wheeled van with big net screeches up for Grouchy

night all
