Do you ever run your washing machine and dishwasher at the same time?

I never do. I'm not sure why. I suppose I feel one or the other or both won't be fed enough water through the supply and so won't work properly.

Is this dim?

Be brave, try it and see what happens!
It's fine, really, if they both needed water at the same time it would just flow a bit more slowly to each one, not a big problem.

Don't have a dishwasher, but feel the same about having a shower even though dh keeps on telling me it makes no difference.
So, think it's based on some random logic surely.

Some times of the day I'm sure there's not as much water coming through shower - maybe the rest of the street have their dishwasher's on, the lucky people!!

Oh I do - so all the noise is over and done with in one go

All depends on your plumbing. Mine are fine to run together, but my mum's are next to each other and run into the same out pipe, so there'd be a big flood if she did this.
