Mold magic - is it any good?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/01/2026 16:22

I keep seeing adds for Mold magic, it appears to be a squeezy tube of gel and alledgedley cleans the mold you get on the seal of the washing machine, anyone actually tried it and does it work?

I am also getting adverts for this and would also be interested in the answer! It seems in the "too good to be true" but also the "quite expensive so would reaaaallly need to work" bucket to me, so would be interesting to hear from anyone who has bought it.

Mumteedum · 10/01/2026 16:24

It works great on tiles. Haven't tried it on the washing machine but it's ancient and I'm probably due a new one.

It's just strong bleach in a thick gel really but it clings well and get in there to work. Good stuff I think.

BeMellowAquaSquid · 10/01/2026 16:24

It was utterly rubbish for me. Used it on our old shower sealant didn’t work at all. Had better results with neat bleach.

EmeraldDreams73 · 10/01/2026 16:26

It's ok but not amazing and still needs scrubbing. Best thing I've ever tried is the HG Mould Remover spray. Stinks to high heaven, read the directions carefully, but works a treat!

Twasasurprise · 10/01/2026 16:45

I was equally sceptical, but it worked wonders on my shower sealant when HG Mould spray and bleach (separately!) didn't.

(I got their stain remover tube Fast Out too, but that product hasn't worked for me so far. Possibly the wrong technique.)

MyCatHasStaff · 10/01/2026 16:46

Worked really well for me on shower sealant and window frame sealant. It's a bit of a faff - the surface has to be dry, leave it for ages, then it's tricky to wipe off, but it worked better than anything else I've tried.

DanDin · 10/01/2026 16:51

Sounds like it might be a Flintshire cleaning company.Smile

ChopstickNovice · 10/01/2026 16:52

I absolutely love it. It works a treat in my bathroom.

HOWEVER it's nonsense that you never need to do it again. The application I did lasted 9 months and then the black mould crept back. I had enough in the tube to re-do it though :)

RuthW · 10/01/2026 16:53

Brilliant. Only thing I’ve had that works on small areas of mold

Thanks for this @EmeraldDreams73. I am also being bombarded with adverts.

I’ll give the HG spray a go as every product I’ve tried of theirs so far has been great.

Shinyandnew1 · 11/01/2026 21:25

I never buy crap off Facebook but a friend bought this for her shower and gave me a spare tube to try and it's bloody brilliant. I bought 5/6 tubes (you get sent an offer as you checkout) and split the cost with a few people and we've all been really pleased with it.

Because it's so thick and gloopy, it does stick to the wall well.

Barrellturn · 11/01/2026 21:27

I just use bleach soaked sheets of toilet roll, they stick to whatever you're trying to bleach, take away an hour later, job done

TumbledTussocks · 11/01/2026 21:33

i thought it was brilliant too. sorted out seals that i thought were unsaveable

Jamfirstest · 11/01/2026 21:35

I bought it as we have mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and I’m scared of getting mould spray in my eyes. I mean it does the job but honestly soaking a mop sponge in spray and sponging the ceiling is easier and half the price.
it does nothing different to the sprays

FishPie2 · 11/01/2026 21:39

No need of this product but their de bobbler is brilliant.

LilyCanna · 11/01/2026 21:43

It works really well for me on bathroom sealant. Not at all on the grey patches on grouting but maybe that’s not mould…

The debobbler is indeed good and very satisfying to use.

Yes - totally removed from bathroom sealant and grotty washing machine door. But not quite so good on the grout. I’ve tried all sorts before, and nothing worked.
needs to be totally dry, 3mm thick layer and leave for a few hours. Amazing stuff!

ChristmasLightsLover · 11/01/2026 21:46

It was brilliant on the mould on our upvc window frames last winter.

Loopylalalou · 11/01/2026 21:52

I thought it very good against a spot of mold above the loo. What I think even better are the scrapers (red and black, come in pairs). No need to scrub oven pans now and they’ve many more uses.

TheSalvadorsStickbymebaby · 11/01/2026 22:30

Another for HG mould spray very strong use in well ventilated area.
And don't get it on your clothes like I did.

And wear rubber gloves, which should be obvious but… I’m very new to having my nails done and using a cloth to wipe HG mould spray soaked two BIAB nails off!
