Is my Meaco Arete dehumidifier working properly?

I recently purchased one to kelp with drying laundry indoors. On the laundry mode which takes 6 hours my clothes are still damp and the water tank is only a third full (would expect it to be full). Before I ran it the first time, it told me that my flat has 55% humidity (which is the ideal temp setting they recommend) and has since struggled to lower the humidity to lower than 50% even when running it for most of the day (and the tank has never reached the brim). Could it be that my flat is just not that humid? Or do I have a dud? Do I need a more powerful one for laundry?

We had a problem with our meaco. Suggest you contact customer services and they'll probably arrange to have it picked up and checked.

What is the room temperature in your flat? If it's below 10℃, it is too cold for compressor dehumidifiers (such as the Arete) to work properly.
