How to clean tiles?

For health reasons I haven’t been able to give the house more than a wipe over for a few years. Now my health is improving I’ve started tackling the house room by room. Downstairs is done and looks lovely and I’ve started on the bathroom.

My issue is with the tiles, they have years of soap scum build up on them and no matter how hard I scrub with pink stuff and a scrub daddy it’s not shifting.

Is there some sort of miracle cleaner that will help? Do they make anything than I can scrape them with without damaging them?

I’d love to get the bathroom retiled and start again but unfortunately that’s way out of my price range.

I recently did mine too as with 4 boys, it doesn’t take long to build up 😬

I poured neat bleach at the top and worked it over the tiles with a brush. Left for 10/15 minutes and then rinsed off with the shower. It worked a treat and saved scrubbing!

Definitely try on a small area first if you have posh tiles though - mine are plain, boring, white ones so we’re fine.

Ohhh, I hadn’t thought of bleach. Will give it a go tomorrow!

White vinegar.

Get one of those sharp things that scrape paint off glass and tiles. I inadvertently used it against some bathroom tiles around the shower and soap came off in flakes. So satisfying.

If it’s soap scum and grease then heat is the most effective cleaner, use a scraper to get the top off then really hot water or a handheld steamer to melt the soap and wipe it off.
