We have been using some vintage plates bought from charity shops, e.g. Country Lane ones same as these in photo attached. Just read a post on instagram that these vintage tableware may contain lead?! Esp ones with red yellow bright colours and date back to 1970s and earlier. No idea when ours were produced but it says dishwasher and microwave safe at the bottom of the plates. Thoughts please? Thanks!

I have these. We always use them!

I know vintage lead crystal glassware can be problematic, but I've not heard of any issues re ordinary glazes on 1970's tableware.

Done a quick search and the 1970's dates appear to relate to pottery produced in the USA prior to that date - the UK banned lead in dinnerware considerably earlier than that.

They look familiar, probably late eighties and from Woolworths you are safe. There were a lot of hedgerow style stuff after the diary of a Victorian lady came out. Smile

Ooh sorry google tells me it was The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady

Thank you all! Put my mind to ease a bit!
