Air purifier

I’ve just been advertised to on Facebook about air purifiers. I’d never really much thought about them. However, we have a really smelly room in our house - we need new carpets etc but just can’t afford to sort it out right now. Would an air purifier help with random smells around the house? It’s an old house and really hard to clean all the nooks and behind all the radiators and built in bits of furniture. There’s also a funny smell that comes out of the old multi fuel wood burner - we don’t use it, but the people before us did.
Basicallt, do air purifiers make the room smell nice/fresh/ of nothing, rather than odd smells?
and does anyone have a mid range recommendation?

Do get your smelly room checked by an electrician. If you have a socket that is close to burning out it smells like fish going off. Huge fire risk.
Sorry I don't know anything about air purifiers.

Mine gets rid of cooking odours pretty fast. But if it's coming from the carpet or walls I don't know if it would help.

I love my air purifier, it helps get rid of cooking smells and pet smells and generally leaves the place a bit fresher. But it won’t be a magic bullet if you have a constant smell source.

Do get someone to check that stove. I would worry that either something is dead in the chimney or that there is a more serious fault going on.
