Help me with washing instructions on clothing

Wasnt sure whether to put this in style and beauty because its more about preserving my clothes and keeping them in good condition than 'cleaning' per se.

Most of my stuff says wash at 30, OH does the washing and insists on putting everything on 'automatic' which we believe is 40, it has no number next to it. Its a Meile and I cant find the instruction manual.

So Im worried about it getting damaged, is this likely?

But another problem has just cropped up, a really really expensive pair of trousers I bought recently, have worn a few times and been on a few trips away in them, now need washing. I stupidly didnt check the washing label, going to do this much more now. To find they are dry clean only!!!

They're 70% cotton and 30% wool. Are they going to come a cropper on a wool/cold cycle?

Same with a scarf Ive had for years, from Spain, I think its polyester to be honest, it says made in China on it, but it feels very very soft. It says hand wash only!!! Ive never washed it.

In fact the scarf is a mix of acrylic, cotton and algodin, which translates as cotton.

Bit strange

I wash a lot of dry clean stuff on the wool cycle at cool and it’s fine. Only a couple of things died in the wash. So long ago i can even remember what they were! Hence dry clean to me now equals wool or delicate wash.

Most clothes are fine at 40
I do knitted items or some of my more delicate items at 30 especially if they just need freshening up. Viscose can be bad for shrinking so do that at 30.
I don’t really wear wool but most wool items are
fine on a 30/40 wool wash.
DH recently washed a dry clean only jacket in the machine - in a laundry bag on the delicates cycle and dried flat. It was completely fine.
