New Bosch oven light gone

Hi have a new Bosch hqa574bs3b oven and the light has stopped working. It's only a few weeks old! I have called the helpline and they will send a new bulb but surely I can get one in the shops? Does anyone know if this is ok as the Bosch person said I had to use their bulb. Not really impressed with Bosch so far as we had a cooked hood light blown too and had to have a new circuit board. was a new hood too.

Do you know what sort of bulb it is?
I had to order my new bulb online from amazon as it was a weird shaped one and I couldnt find it in a shop

Nitgel · 27/11/2025 08:26

Its a drama finding the right one so i had to order from bosch. Its so new though. Hope it is just the bulb blown. Was easier to buy and change oven lights before halogen !

the bosch engineer said there was nothing wrong with the oven just bad luck the light went and changed it, however it has now blown again. it's mad! anyone know what I can do next? would using a lower wattage bulb work?

Did he check the oven or just change the bulb?
Can you post a picture of the bulb?

Nitgel · 21/12/2025 17:26

He checked the whole oven thoroughly

Ooh they look fancy. I have a Bosch oven (10 years old now, but looks very similar) and can get the bulbs in the local hardware store/ everything shop (it’s a small town and not a huge shop but they literally seem to sell everything). When it dies I was planning to get another one the same (as it fits the hole etc!). But worrying you’ve had so many issues.

Goldleafcat · 21/12/2025 17:33

The fact the bulb has gone again is worrying tbh - I would suggest there’s an electrical issue

dementedpixie · 21/12/2025 17:34

They look like the ones I bought for my oven. Do you know the wattage?

Agree. I'd be looking for a replacement oven unless you are doing something (hitting the bulb with a hammer??) to make the light go.

Did he touch the bulb with bare hands? That apparently a big no no due to the oils on your skin

TeaRoseTallulah · 21/12/2025 17:38

We've just replaced ours, think we got it from Amazon.

We=dh obviously 😂

I replaced ours. Worst bit was trying to get the bulb cover off

Musicmummy63 · 21/12/2025 17:43

Literally replaced ours yesterday, also a Bosch. 1st bulb lasted 5 years, second one 3 months. Had to order from amazon, can't find in the sho. I think it is just bad luck.

Nitgel · 21/12/2025 17:43

The engineer checked everything. Its irritating as the oven is only a couple of months old. The bulbs are direct from bosch.

Looks like the same as i bought then except mine were 40W. Bought a 4 pack so I'd have spares

This. When I change these halogen lights on our cooker hood I hold them with a piece of kitchen towel. I’d expect the Bosch engineer to know that though.

I remember last time it took dh ages and there was lots of puffing and blowing and swearing, this time it came off really easily!

Nitgel · 21/12/2025 18:20

Its so fiddly to change but these bulbs have a plastic coating so i was thinking it may protect the bulb more. Seems not. The old screw in bulbs were easier.

I wonder what bosch will do for me next.

There must be something triggering the bulb to blow, don't be fobbed off by Bosch. Oven bulbs are specially made to withstand heat, ordinary bulbs can't be used.
