How to clean decanter

We have this nice glass decanter/bottle that we never use because it has distinct marking inside the glass. We’ve tried everything we can think of - brushes, those cleaning balls (ceramic) and leaving it full of vinegar for 24 hours. Nothing shifts them - any ideas?

I assume they are limescale.

It's difficult to see from the photo, but could the marking be some sort of decorative etching? Parts look like a definite pattern.

My Granny used to clean anything glass by using hot water, washing up liquid and dry rice. Out it all in and give it a really good shake. Vases etc used to be glistening after this treatment.

I’ve had success with denture cleaning tabs for this sort of job.

Apparently hot soapy water and rice then shake it. Say it on a cleaning programme years ago. Kim and aggie

We have tried denture tablets and the rice trick did not work (I tried earlier). Just bewildering really - I’ve no memory of what it was that caused the marks and we haven’t got them on other glass bottles we use. They definitely are not decorative!

Amazon and John Lewis both have stainless steel cleaning balls for decanters and vases.

Diluted bleach left steeping worked for me.
