Clothes moths

I found some tiny holes in a cashmere scarf, DH said they were from clothes moths & to put the scarf in the freezer for a few days.
Is this right? I'm a bit reluctant to put it round my neck now.

I've no idea how they got there, never seen any moths in the house.

How can I stop it happening again, please?

buy moth repellents. Both the smelly ones and the sticky sheets that trap the adult moths. especially for any drawers that have cashmere or wool clothes because if you have a few moths then you can rapidly get lots more. They are pretty small so you may not have seen them.

freezing the scarf is also a good idea, but is it more important to fix the source of the problem.
