Piano Clean

I have a old Steinway upright piano-when I say old, I mean precious old and it had a price tag to match when we bought it twenty years ago. It's black and the case needs a clean but I want to be careful.

How do I do this?

Hello, fellow Steinway keeper! I only use a soft, dry duster on mine (also black, but not sure of age as I paid for it to be reconditioned before it arrived!). I also ban anyone else from cleaning it, just in case they think that Mr Sheen is the way to go!

If in doubt, you could contact a piano store. I appreciate that they're few and far between, but I find Shackleford's in Macclesfield very helpful.

Thank you @TheeNotoriousPIG I have been tempted to call on the services of Mr Sheen!

However, I have just spent an hour using a soft dry duster as you suggested and it looks much better.
It's the most expensive piece of furniture we had and I want it to gleam as if it looks it!

Thank you-now it looks cared for, I can really settle to working on Bach's 21 in B flat major, which will probably take longer than a hour! Maybe it was all the dust that has been hampering my progress.

Thanks again

Ooh, lovely! I envy your piano skills!

Mine is also the most expensive piece of furniture I own. It was even more expensive than my car, but it is worth it!
