Hi all I'm going to sound a bit thick here but I have a new washing machine coming tomorrow and I paid for them to install and take the old one away , will i need to completely switch off the water at the mains meaning there's no water coming into the house at all ?

There should be little taps at the bits where the new hose attaches to the pipework so it should only be that bit you need to switch off

No, the installer should safely disconnect the old machine.
