New car?

Sidge · 05/06/2008 18:09

With great difficulty.

We had to get a friend's car valeted after DH was sick in it (illness not alcohol!!) and even then on a warm day there was a waft of vomit from the seats.

I initially scraped off the solids (sorry) then washed it with a biological detergent solution. Then took it to be valeted properly.

I am afraid the secret is to clean out every last scrap of vomit. My son has been sick in our car a couple of times and, despite cleaning vigorously, the smell lingered. Then dh pulled up the seat and found the tiniest dot of vomit underneath. Once cleaned off, the smell went. So I am afraid that, IME, if the smell is still there, someone has missed a spot.

Horrible job. Sympathies to all concerned.

MMM, think you are right, masking a smell is always a bit dodgy as it will always be there in the background...sick is a very pervasive scent

BICARBONATE OF SODA

trust me this works.

assuming youve cleaned it etc... buy loads of bicarb and get it and a bowl of water ONLY and a sponge... sprinkle the bicarb over each affected bit of fabric, wait a minute then sort of scrub in with the sponge and water.

if youve done every smelly bit, there will be NO SMELL instantly.

i thang yew.
